Yea no shite, insurance makes home owner whole then insurance company goes after the city for compensation.

Yeah. I was obviously commenting based on the story saying the amount covered housing and deductibles. If the amount is 7,500 or 10,000 so be it. But I bet the family wants 1.3 million for their 130,000 tract home.

So you want the city to pay for everything instead of paying their insurance deductible and housing while it's fixed? Why? They have insurance, let them use it with no out of pocket.
Whose going to pay for their higher rates now? This wasn't an accident. It was CLEARLY the fault of the city. Why shouldn't the city bear responsibility for making the homeowner whole?

Insurance company should be left to sue the city for compensation
Wut? This is what you buy insurance for.
Insurance companies sue for restoration all the time. Your insurance policy is to cover your expenses. They are entitled to attempt to recover that money from the responsible party.

People pay higher rates for not at fault accidents all the time.

they're lucky those genius cops didn't call CPS and arrest the parents for this grave crime
There is nothing wrong with letting a 9 y/o stay home while you get the groceries. They are fully competent and should know how to use a phone by that age.

The court acknowledged that this may seem “unfair,” but when police have to protect the public, they can’t be “burdened with the condition” that they compensate whoever is damaged by their actions along the way.
Protect some of the public....not ALL of the public. Need to get WallyWorld's property back to them so some chinese sweat shop doesn't need to go into triple overtime hours to make up for the loss.

That's a lot of words to not answer the question.

I'll take that as an admission that perhaps you don't actually know.

Police blew up an innocent man’s house in search of an armed shoplifter.
Well he was in the house and holed up in the house for 19 hours before he was arrested

He also tried to run over a cop and was sentenced to a 100 years in prison

Unless the cops are paying it out of pocket, that's just teaching the tax payers a lesson, no?
Maybe they need a lesson too.
Civics is a lost art apparently.

Cops blowing up your house is not the reason you buy insurance. Most policies would probably exclude coverage for this type of damage.

I buy insurance for my property in case anything happens to it.

I'm willing to look at some fine print that says this if you have it

You think your HO policy covers ALL perils?
