From what I understand, celebrities and athletes were offering to meet with him, I think some of the Tennessee Titans were willing to go eat lunch with him at school and the mom turned down all the offers and said they could all help by donating to the gofundme page she set up.

I'm going to lean toward it being true. The "I Stand" banner and the multiple pics with the confederate flag lends me to believe that the kid probably used the N word on multiple occasions and the mom is using this as a holiday hustle
