Man, you guys are a tough crowd. One day some of you are shitting on anyone who has a nice wedding, even if they can easily afford it. The next, you're shitting on someone who has a casual get-together at home.
Hell, this makes a lot more sense than someone who has a $10k budget trying to still throw a traditional wedding for 100+ people, so they end up cutting corners everywhere else and have a nicer venue with a teenage DJ and a cash bar. I'll go to someone's backyard gumbo party a millions over before that.

A diehard LSU fan has a reception and has a pretty neat cake made showing his fandom. It was probably important to him, as he posted a pic to tRant.
Then, his fellow LSU fan base absolutely shreds him on 2 separate forums because they feel his reception is trashy. Incredible.
You take a happy, proud fan and bash him because his family didn’t spend a shitload of money on a reception?
