So my wife loves these shows like Intervention and Hoarders.

Watching Intervention as I type this. Holy shite, I can't believe there is a mass audience for this shite. Peering into the lives of some of the most miserable people on the planet. It's voyeurism turned up to 11.
Hoarders is even worse. These are seriously mentally ill people and their illness is put on display for a nationwide audience.
WTF is wrong with the world.

It’s like Maury Povich, most of it was all scripted bullshite, but millions still tuned in to see what’s “next”.

Those shows are for people to feel better about themselves. Messy house? Watch Hoarders. Now your house looks not so bad. Watch Intervention and a 12 pack a day seems pretty damn responsible.

As a soon to be clinician I find it essential for me to watch these shows.
I don’t watch them all the time but I watch it to see how well the mental health clinicians use evidence based practice

One of the big problems with the world is the cognitively dissonant urge to begin sentences with "so."

my 600lb life is the best.
These people are the culmination of American gluttony.
People starving in Africa on the same planet in which there are people that weigh out at 600 pounds. Amazing.

To be fair, a 12 pack of mich ultra is like a 7-pack of budweiser, so it isn't so bad.
Right?
Right?

I never watched Intervention, but have seen Hoarders a few times and I actually felt bad for those people. It wasn't something I enjoyed watching.

Yeah food is a piss poor choice for a coping mechanism since most of the episodes involve people who have had some type of trauma

One episode of hoarders has me cleaning out closets for the entire weekend.

Hell the episode in Lafayette a few weeks ago was a family that weighed a ton combined. One chick was 800 lbs.
