I guess I shouldn't have said taking a job. She wants to live there for the job opportunities. She is a clinical pharm so probably a hospital or a clinic

There are far better places to live than Baton Rouge for these opportunities.

If by oil company you mean Exxon, then live in Zachary or even East/West Feliciana Parish. Traffic.

Plus the schools up there are mostly better. Prettier country as well.

Start your search between Jefferson, Perkins and Highland , all basically running parallel. There are very nice neighborhoods off each . There are affordable neighborhoods like Oak Hills , Jefferson Terrace and Westminster that have all been good neighborhoods for decades. Most older neighborhoods have newer filings.

You might consider Ascension ( Dutchtown ) Denham Springs or Zachary as well if you don’t mind being away from stuff.

Even though I knew BR well, I rented a home for six months so I could have time to find the perfect long term home.

If she's going to work at BR General, OLOL or Woman's than live somewhere around there. The crappy BR traffic can be somewhat avoided if you just live close to work.

You'll likely have to pay for private school if you stay and eventually have kids. You can always just move to the burbs or go the magnet route if you don't want to.

Some of the better public school districts in LA are in the BR suburbs. You just have to deal with the commute. Prairieville would be the easiest burb commute to the hospitals in SBR.

We lived off of Juban for 7 years and it was fine. I'm sure you can find that out in the far reaches of LP but there are a lot of young families there now. The schools are decent and Jason Ard doesn't mess around with crime.

And as close to work as you can get. Traffic sucks.

Yea I’m kidding about LP but you’re never too far from that crowd. Keep that in mind. LP is better than other parishes that border EBR to me. I can tolerate the backwoods people easier than I can tolerate the ghetto people that’s for sure.
