Is this because they are killing each other and killing themselves through excessive drug use? Probably not the first reason, the second has become an increasing issue in terms of meth and the havoc that can reek. Those problems along with general crime are the picture most people have when they think of the woes of the inner city.

I think what we are seeing is a result of the push for everyone to get a college degree. A person with a degree who wants to find a good paying job is not likely to find it in most of rural America. So they leave, populations stagnate, older people are still there but not having children. so what happens is populations decrease until they hit a steady state point where older retirees buy cheaper rural property for retirement from people who are selling the estates of their parents who are either dead or in an assisted living facility or nursing home.

They can try to spin it but Inner cities are WAY worse than rural. There's no question.

This is still apples and oranges. You can't compare the suburban areas of one of the largest metropolises in the nation to rural areas in a state whose largest city is a glorified mill town. Maybe the suburbs of DFW to the suburbs or “census-designated" areas of some place like Raleigh or Hartford would be more comparable.

Rural areas have been ignored, so they can funnel money into Inner Cities. So??? This is shocking news?

And yes, Inner cities are the WORST
