The Big Guy said all you need is two who believe and you got yourself a church. You could do that anywhere.

I dunno, I can be pretty charismatic when I am selling Cutco knives. I could definitely do this.

I've still got my original set from the early 70s.

I've never understood catholicism. Y'all dont read the bible, you trust men to teach you about the word, and pray to freaking statues.

I guess you show up every easter, take communion and go on your merry way.

The Catholic church created the Bible. It is literally a Catholic book. Also, if you attend mass every weekend for 3 years, you've read the entire Bible.

you trust men to teach you about the word

Just like the Ethiopian eunuch in Act 8, and just like every Christian throughout history. Otherwise, you end up being one of the 40,000 prot denominations who all claim to be holy spirit led in arriving at their own interpretation.

Also the phrase "word of God" never once, not even a single time, refers to written scripture in the Bible. It overwhelmingly refers to Apostolic oral teaching, which you quite literally do have to rely on men speaking in order to receive.

and pray to freaking statues.

This is false, and quite honestly just a dumb and ignorant statement.

I've never understood catholicism

Yeah I see that.

what do you think Jesus would want and where would he preach

I would have to assume he would preach in The Church he personally setup 2000 years ago.

Real Protestants call themselves reformed catholics, and are waiting for Rome to acknowledge them once again.

The Episcopalians in Louisiana have a woman for a bishop. Good luck with an acknowledgement of that.

Of course, and you people want the "Church" in total control.

God can speak to you as well as he can speak to the pope. You folks have been hoodwinked into some spiritual Ponzi scheme.

That is most definitely not what He said.

This is true, but only a Magisterium can decide if what was reveled to you is in accord with Scripture and the teachings of the Church. Without this you have schism around every corner.

You don't get it. Looking to the Pope for guidance = bad. Going to Pastor Jim's Light Show Worship Extravaganza to hear what cool Jesus says = good

The reason he might step foot in there would be to be flipping tables in the Vatican

Holding billions in stock art and real estate is not the intention of the church.

That’s not even touching on other issues because those can be argued localized to individuals not systemic.

Sitting on billions in wealth is not a local issue.

You do realize the church doesn't "own" most of this stuff, and is simply the steward of it.............right?

Well, that is certainly what the Gnostics claimed.

I guess by implication all you’d need to start a Romanist pagan cult location is the blessing of a false teacher making the false claim that Christ somehow gave him successive authority over people. And some diddling.

But not the church.

I miss the days when you could donate money to the Catholic Church and be absolved of all earthly sins.
