To anyone reading this thread, if you have gone through a tragedy like fish has ALCOHOL is the worst possible self medication. It is a depressant and it will make you feel like giving up on life.

Fish I know your pain. You were a hero to my son who lost his battle with cancer 5 years ago. You built a pirogue to be auctioned at a benefit his friends set up for him, his wife and boy and girl despite your failing health . He bragged on you till the end for doing that for him since you only knew each other on the OB board. He died 9 days before that benefit that you and many other posters he never met still attended. Per his wishes 1/2 of the $2400 paid for your handmade pirogue went to a 12 year old girl fighting her own battle with cancer.
You are a very good man. Your loved ones need you, not more pain . I have cried an ocean over my son's death, most recently last Sunday ,his 40th birthday. But you have to keep going a day at a time. I took my son's 11 year old daughter and 12 year old son to lunch today. Days like that for them and you are why you can cry but have to keep going for them.
