So the colords don't take over Alaska cruises because they don't like cold weather ?

They were <1% of the passengers I encountered

so easy now to find deals and plan things with trip advisor and other apps now. From finding top notch local restaurants, zip lines, hiking, etc can all be done online in minutes. I also like reading some of the Airbnb comments sections too. Pretty good info on finding what's some good things to do around the property.

I don’t think you realize how un tech savvy some old people are.

Also, some people just don’t have time to plan out stuff.

He was probably on Holland American LIne and the Eurodam ship. I was on the Eurodam last week and the 9th floor was named Lido and it had the typical large buffet, a couple order off the menu restaurants, 2 or 3 bars and an indoor and aft deck pool.

I figured HAL when he mentioned Lido. We're cruising on Zandam this summer. Any suggestions or pointers would be appreciated.

Do you do a drink package? If not, they charge for soft drinks, canned water, etc. If you are an adult beverage person, it is worth it.

Read up on how to set your cell phone while on the ship so that you're not hit with unexpected roaming fees, etc.

I know staff gratuity is included in your fee but it was recommended to me to tip your cabin steward day one and they will double down on keeping your room in shape. I tipped him $50 and feel I got my monies worth.

Don't over pack.....no one will notice if you wear the same shirt or pants for 3 or 4 days.

Good stuff. Not much of a drinker but we got the package because it was heavily discounted when we made our reservations.

What excursion did you do in Ketchikan? Recommendations? I'm considering a bear encounter by land or sea.

Any other excursion reccomendstions for Juneau or Skagway?

With all due respect, I never understood why anyone who goes on "vacation " would want to do anything "grueling." Doing shite like that is the last thing on my mind.

When you walk up to the visitor center after a couple of weeks in the backcountry and the roadbound tourists look at you like you're part of the wildlife, you'll understand.

Did not do any excursions due to medical reasons with the missus.

Make sure you hit the Red Dog Saloon in Juneau and try a Duck Fart shot.

I have experienced the "mosquito issue" in Alaska myself through personal contact. There are LOTS of mosquitoes out there in Alaska, when you visit Denali.

I enjoyed whale watching and seeing some of the wildlife on the shore excursions. First time I had ever seen a moose up close. The lumberjack show was a lot of fun too.
