42 years young here. All parts still work, still got my hair, a few more wrinkles but damn I look good.
all parts still work, but a lot more pain and stiffness in the process. Take care of your bodies young'uns. Those past injuries never go away. They just lie dormant and then start showing up to say "hi!" starting about 36. Each year their visits become more frequent and longer.

No kids until 37? Seems a bit late.
It's a little late, but I think there is a trend of people having kids later in life. People in my parents age group almost always had kids in their younger to mid 20's. Now, most of the people that I know are waiting until late 20's to mid 30's before having kids. There is probably a direct correlation between age of having kids and the increased education in this generation.
I'm 28 and have no kids. At 28 my dad (2 children) and my father-in-law (3 children) were both done having kids.

35 here. I've probably thought more about just how quickly life moves in the last year than I ever have. I don't feel old, I'm training for my second half Ironman, just had our second child and are pretty stable financially due to not overspending and living within our means. It is weird to me that I am as close to my early 50s as I am to when I started at lsu though.

I would extend young professional to 42 since most people won't sniff retirement in today's world. People are going to be retiring older and older nowadays and in the future
Hit the nail on the head about retirement, I preach to my boys constantly about saving early and often.

These "young" people who constantly throw around the word "old" like it's an epithet really frost my cookies.
We had our first (19) when I was 29, parenting is a younger man's endeavor.

Time is an artificial construct.

That's kind of a very small regret I have in life... I'm 52 with 6y/o twins... Didn't get married till I was 41... However, I really had a blast when I was in my 20's and 30's.... Not that I'm not enjoying life now, it's just a different enjoyment... and I really wouldn't change a thing...

OP's age in bold?
Funny thing happens as you get older...unless you have a physical ailment or something, you simply don;t feel that much older. At least, that's been true for me thus far, and I'll be 46 in June. I'm in better shape today than I was at 30, and while I'm more responsible, what makes me "me" isn't all that much different than what it was when I was 20.
I think "old" can only be defined by that age when you personally begin to allow yourself to be old.

i have the money. just don't have the energy.

Hard to believe, but at one time 21 was considered adult and 35 middle-aged.

58 and feeling older but far from "old" so I would say the last category in your scale is off by 2 decades. At my age everything works just fine and we have the money to enjoy good health. For most of us, early retirement won't be possible (I still have kids in college). Would I like to knock off 10 years? Sure, but I wouldn't want to go any further back. Life is pretty damn good right now.
