I am thinking this:
18-27 college age;
28-37 young professional
37-47 parents
48-58 reaching retirement
58-up pretty much geezer

I would extend young professional to 42 since most people won't sniff retirement in today's world. People are going to be retiring older and older nowadays and in the future

Once you hit 40 its time to start looking for a retirement home

I hate the term "young professional" so much

Meh. I'm 36 and still not even a grown up yet

I agree as the retirement age goes up so should the word "old".
42 years young here. All parts still work, still got my hair, a few more wrinkles but damn I look good.

You accurately described 2016 "college aged". Although a case could be made that young professional merges in about 24-25

I've known people in their 40's who were "old" and people in their 70's who were full of life and active, mentally and physically.

I told a chick I worked with who was 31:
18-24 is young
25-31 is middle aged
32-45 is old
45-65 is ancient
65+is in the ground
She'd get so fiesty.

Just turned 45 and I still feel young but I will admit turning 40 sucked and now that I am getting closer to 50 I realize how life flies by , to all you youngsters 28 is closer to 40 than you think ....

Sometimes I wonder what the words "grown up" even mean.
Hell I know the speed limit was 65 mph I was going 90 mph that doesn't seem very grown up. I paid the speeding ticket but I still feel like I still want to go fast again

Yep time does fly I can see why some older/wiser people say my mind is still young but my body is just failing. Just sucks. I take care of myself physically so hopefully my body still got another good 45 years in it.
