White, hard-working teenagers seem to be the standard at every CFA.
The funny thing is, I've been to CFA locations where over 90% of the crew is black. Those stores might even be BETTER.
Now, it's not Boneshequia and her braids working. It's high school and college black kids, who dress well and act polite.

The store GM is the owner and they are expected to pull shifts like everyone else even if it is just in the office
The are very selective on who gets a store and where it goes
This is a big part of it. Other chains you can buy numerous stores and hire managers but chic fil a only allows you one store and you have to manage it yourself

Cathy borrowed heavily from Horst Schulze of Ritz Carlton.
Schulze claimed it began with convincing lowest level employees of their significance to the organization - how dishwashers can be the difference between a great/flawed experience, and how they were in no way inferior to higher paid paid employees who probably have no more influence on a guest's impression than them.

Definitely a part of it, with caveats -
- You do have multi store operators, but it's not common.
- The owners do have managers aside from themselves, but obviously the culture/expectation is that operators remain heavily involved and there is certainly no such thing as an absentee operator like you might have with other franchises.

One of the operators in Katy has three stores, and it took him about 20 years to get three.
He had one for the longest time.
Then a store operator retired, and he was able to get that one.
A while later, they opened a new location and gave that one to him.
They told him having 3 is pretty uncommon, but he seems to make it work.

Id like to see a demographic breakdown of CFA vs Popeyes employees
I ran a quick study on this topic... I am not somebody who judges off looks or anything, but it looks like the demographics are pretty close.
My findings:
Popeyes :
Chick-fil-a:

I was going to say this
I know this board teeters on a controversial line most of the time
But CFA employees regardless of skin color are always A+ people

I don't get the crazy love for CFA. The food is meh. It's dumbed down and jesused up chicken for white folks.
If you just look at the food quality, Popeyes is altogether in a different league with real chicken. CFA just waffle fries and the sandwich.
I dated a white chick once who didn't know how to eat chicken on the bone. She could only eat CFA and Canes like a 5 year old.
Throw in the mega church connection and I think its christian soccer moms and Karens bringing their kids to eat there. It's not a real man's place.
CFA seems to hire megacurch goody goody teenagers. Popeyes hires paroles and degenerates just like every other fast food joint.
I don't go to a restaurant looking for a bunch of fake Olsteen smiles. I go for good food.
CFA is stepford. Popeyes is real. Basic bitches can have their CFA.

I’m pretty sure the same guy owns the one on college, Millerville, and in the LSU Union. I’ve seen him working at all 3.

My son is 21 and graduated from high school in 2017. A kid he graduated with and played baseball with in high school just got promoted to shift manager at the one by our house. He is also a student at U of H.

This location of Hooters was allegedly at one time a little more aggressive, in the workplace coaching department....
Whatever it takes: Let's outwork the other guy!

I see a mega-shite ton of downvotes for this and possibly a ban.

Because the owner of the restaurant can't buy a bunch of franchises.

The ones I'm aware of tend to be compacted within a tight area, often where they are high volume and it probably makes sense to give it to someone who has a record of success in the neighborhood.
Your scenario sounds pretty typical considering one is a non-traditional location I think, when multi stores were exceedingly rare, the ones I heard about were Mall+freestanding and things like that. Since operators don't have a lot of say over site selection and the like, it can be somewhat luck of the draw and getting a drive through only/mall/etc. can really make a fairly big financial difference (by no choice/option of the operator).
