Have you seen facebook stock? Its a runaway train and Im pretty certain its a full blown monopoly at this point. IG is a modern day advertising platform and literally anyone can make a fortune with it. I know a guy who owns 30-40 accounts in different verticals and makes 6 figures monthly redirecting traffic and basically driving customers to businesses. He told me his whole portfolio had something like 200M active followers across all the various names. He had a couple paid writers who helped him with content and most of what he did was garbage making up nonsense in certain verticals like say celebrity content and then basically attempting to make things go viral. He actually was in my mba program at LSU and left his job 3 years ago to do this full time and hasn't looked back. I've always been intrigued by what he does but have no idea how he generates traffic/followers like he does.

It is true. You have multiple verticals ie cars,food,clothes,fitness,models etc. Then with each vertical you build up traffic and then contact advertisers seeing who would be interested in your promotions.I dont know anything about how the traffic is generated, I imagine alot of hardwork using tags and asking people to promote your page. I know this guy told me whenever he travels somewhere he messages a few exotic car rental spots and tells them ill post you on his car page in return for a weekend with a car and sees who hooks him up. He eats free at restaurants by posting them on his food pages, etc. He gets cases of new drinks,protein bars, etc free. Its actually pretty awesome.

As for the part about trying to do BS celebrity stuff that goes viral. They do something like the national enquirer and just post nonsense on one of their pages with the attempts to get bs to go viral. Those pages have links to websites where ads or adsense are used. The other pages use just straight paid advertising. He's a good friend of mine, whether you choose to believe it or not, there's no need for me to lie to tigerdroppings about it. Fact is its out there and thats why these instagram models all post pics with products in return for money. Yes many are hookers but many are legit & market products via a simple instagram post in exchange for cash.

verticals simply means various categories. Instagram has a million of them. People want to see not only hot girls but food,cars,travel,clothing,real estate, etc there are a bajillion verticals and within each one is a whole world of people looking for marketing.

Instagram is probably worth $50B on its own today and I assure you its not bc its an app with pics of hot girls, there's functionality to it.
