Continue to wear mask and social distance.

WTF is the point in getting the vaccine?

That's what they're saying ... that it can reduce the symptoms. But you can likely still spread it!

LOL at anyone who though the government would willingly just give back the powers we’ve allowed them to assume during the pandemic.

So if this is true, this confirms that there is no point in getting it if you are in the majority of the population that has minimal symptoms.

You can get COVID-19 after the vaccine but supposedly the symptoms will be much less. Just like getting the flu even though you had the flu vaccine.

So wearing a mask after being vaccinated is to protect those that haven’t been vaccinated yet.

Friend,

It's the difference between infection and disease state. Many people can be infected with a virus or bacteria and not know it. It would surprise me little if some of the more lascivious posters here are infected with trichomoniasis this very minute. But they have no symptoms, and these are the people that spread it so widely.

I do not think the verdict is out on whether or not a person who has gotten the covid19 vaccine can be infected with the virus or not. If someone does know, please let us know. I was under the impression that until we know the answer to that question, the assumption, for public safety, should be that even with the vaccine you potentially could be infected with the coronavirus and spreading it, even if you do not have covid, as in the disease caused by the coronavirus.

N95 masks and their proper use and the vaccine will win this war.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

They believe you could potentially still catch COVID-19 but be asymptomatic (or have minimal symptoms) and spread it.

Not all vaccines create sterilizing immunity. Polio is a good example:

quote:

Not all vaccines produce an immune response that is sterilizing, and neither do they need to to be effective at preventing disease. “Many vaccines are primarily intended to prevent disease and do not necessarily protect against infection,” according to the World Health Organization (WHO). In this case, disease means the response of the body to a pathogen. It’s the illness and all the symptoms of the disease.

For example, the inactivated poliovirus vaccine does not produce sterilizing immunity and is 90 percent or more effective. A vaccine can lessen the ability of a pathogen to produce a disease response without sterilizing it. If it does sterilize against a pathogen, it can prevent infection. For example, the human papillomavirus vaccine induces sterilizing immunity.

Here's the deal, if you haven't been vaccinated by March/April that's on you. It's no longer anyone's job to protect you from yourself.

This isn't arguing for vaccination, but it's certainly arguing against further public health measures. At that point, you should be on your own.

If the government really wanted everyone to get the vaccine then they’d do some sort of stimulus check tied to getting it. I know Congress is negotiating another stimulus right now. All they have to do is add in a line saying if you want your $2,500 or whatever check, you have to get the vaccine.

I’ll bet if they did this suddenly all the people who are against getting it will change their tune real quick.

The idea has been floated.

I'd get the vaccine and whatever microchip that goes with it for $2500.

This would be a great way to make sure that I NEVER got the vaccine. I'm skeptical enough with the rushed process and the fricking propaganda videos of our 'healthcare heroes' getting vaccinated live on TV. Then, you want to pay me to get it? Yeah, hard pass.

I get that the vaccine will lessen my symptoms but how will it stop the spread?

In the meantime I saw that Australia was reporting only 10 new cases a day.

They are either not testing or have they reached herd immunity?

So, once again, we are wearing masks to protect the at-risk population who made the personal choice to go out in public and risk their health.

This whole thing is fricking ridiculous.
