Sorry for standing with our president. Keep your TDS in check.

I think trump has handled this exceedingly well given the circumstances.

Every covid post has you in the first dozen posts making some snide remark. Not necessarily saying I disagree with you.

I just find it funny that the normal trump crew has completely disregarded what he's actually said and done over the last two months. He has taken this mostly seriously starting in late february and Trump himself has stated that shutting down was the correct choice. I just find it comical that the people melting over shutting down will happily vote for the guy who clearly and unequivocally said it was the right thing to do.
If you think that it was the wrong course of action and has destroyed our economy, why support the guy who said it was our best course of action given the circumstances?

I guess you don't understand tongue in cheek comments. I'll keep it simple from here on out for you.

This is how you talk out of both sides of your arse. Trump has been amazing. Governors...?
Not so much.

So how many would you think is a fair addition to the death total? We're at over 35k lab confirmed deaths in the US.
It was in its infancy in January maybe a handful of deaths again as the majority are asymptomatic, or minimally symptomatic with little to no surveillance being done. Things take a while to spread and take hold, but it doesnt mean it starts at the first death we record, its obviously well before then.

Can you link the last time there were 35k lab confirmed influenza deaths in a single 30 day period?
Now you’re getting somewhere. But my point has always been influenza is much more significantly mitigated due to existing surveillance, treatment, awareness, and prevention in place. Even with these measures in place for influenza which significantly decrease mortality, severity, and prevalence...new estimates are suggesting COVID will be roughly as fatal as a mean flu season with only measures in place to slow incidence.

What?
Almost every governor has followed his lead throughout this whole thing. The JBE melters refuse to believe he has basically been in lockstep with the fed gov's recommendations since the beginning.

This fricking gotcha shite is getting old.
Politics makes people retarded. I get it. Trump has made some good moves and some bad moves throughout this ordeal.
Keep posting your jokes in every covid thread. We all dig it.

This is bullshite. It’s been around a lot longer.
Your feelings about how long it’s been here unknown because “it’s so minor” doesn’t change the fact from that in the start of April there were 5k dead and now it’s at 39k.

No.
The CDC estimates that the flu causes between 12k and 61k deaths per year over the last decade. So 61k would be the TOP range of their estimate.
The IHME model estimates that the MEDIAN for anticipated COVID deaths at ~60k deaths with the assumption that current social distancing assumed until infections minimized and containment implemented. Their TOP range would be 140k.
If we're comparing median to median, it's 60k for Covid and 25k for the flu. And again, the whole premise of this thread is that "well this thing isn't any worse than a bad flu season, THUS WE SHOULDN'T HAVE IMPLEMENTED THE MEASURES WE HAVE.
You're arguing that this will likely be as bad as a bad flu season WITH the measures implemented. People like OP are arguing that this will be as bad as a bad flu season with the measures implemented as a reason for why the measures SHOULDN'T have been implemented.

Sure it does. My denominator is bigger than yours. Just like my cock.

Nice dodge.
It's a simple question. IF you were hospitalized with COVID, would you prefer to have been hospitalized in week 1 or in week 24?

You cant read. I keep saying a mean flu season. So 40-60k
For the bajillionth time I’m not saying we shouldn’t social distance, or that it isnt an extreme measure...i am saying vaccinations for influenza have a more significant impact than ‘extreme’ COVID measures. . 6 million flu infections prevented with 60% decrease of the infected needing ICU if we see 40-60k deaths after 60% reduction in ICU requirements COVID is similar And just might match up to a mean flu severity wise.
ETA - 2017-18 season Flu vaccines prevent ~ 6.2 million flu infections. We Are at like 2.25 million total COVID cases.
