The goal for a company is to earn money for the owners, not “stay loyal to where they’re from”.
One way a company improves is by hiring better employees. The DFW area has thousands of graduates from UTD, SMU, Dallas, and TCU every year. The only university within 45 minutes of New Orleans that is competitive with those schools is Tulane, which only graduates a small number each year.
Salaries being equal, Dallas is an easy choice for a rational decision maker. No state income tax and a sales tax at 8.25% vs 10+ in NO and Mandeville. Yeah, property taxes are higher, but you can send your kids to public school and you get good roads/municipal services.
Dallas has a team in each of the big 4 leagues plus an MLS squad. Many more big name acts tour through there compared to NO.
There are daily non-stop intercontinental flights to a variety of destinations. This is important to young professionals with disposable income. And also to the CEO and senior staff of smoothie king who live in Korea.
But other than that New Orleans is a great business environment.
Note: I live in New Orleans and could get a 25% salary bump if I wanted to move to TX. I would never, because it has a complete vacancy in the spot where Louisiana has a soul.

What does Dallas have that St. Tammany for example doesn't?
i really think you have down syndrome

You can find that all day in Frisco. It’s towards $300k and below where it starts to fizzle out. Zillow has $320-400k all day.
Now getting an offer accepted is another story
Where? In east Frisco/older area? Serious question. They are building out the last areas here in West Frisco and I haven’t seen anything under $500k for a few years.

I am boycotting this establishment. Going to buy my smoothies from Wendy’s now!

Louisiana’s only hope is St Tammany

VERY smart move. Get away from the French-ness of Louisiana.

Right. Well the circumstances I described attending the additional few million people make the Metroplex a much better strategic location for a company that is trying to grow. That’s not debatable.

Go to Zillow and filter the price to max out at $400k. Frisco has houses everywhere, even new construction.

When you’re a very large company trying to staff corporate HQ, yes, yes it does.

Just in time to rename arena to The Walk-Ons Center.
Until they jump ship for Dallas too.

There are still parts of Frisco /McKinney /Prosper under $500k. Likely smaller Sq/ft, and lot but they are available.

Currently based in Metairie, Louisiana, the brand will move to Irving’s Cypress Waters development in June to support its burgeoning footprint, said Smoothie King’s CEO Wan Kim.
just drove by there today, is basically a planned city of about 10K people (or will be when they are finished) all built/being built starting about 3 years ago.
There is a lake there that isn't much to look at that used to go with a power plant I think, building up around it.
Google map of Cypress Waters
Every bit of what you see on the map is virtually brand new, probably the largest remaining tract for development in Irving.

This generation deserves chains like none other previously ever have. They’ve earned every bit of their delicious industrial kitchen morsels, and may one be exactly like the other, as a chain is supposed to be. Live it up.... the rest of the world is oh so jealous.

There’s a smoothie king right by the fedex kinkos near my house and the only people I see in there are fatass diabetes types.

You give Tulane WAY too much credit.

As a business owner who recently had to renew my insurance, i am trying to figure out a way to relocate my business to Texas also. Until Louisiana nuts up and actually changes these things that make it harder and more expensive to operate inside Louisiana this will continue to happen.

My kid has 6 years of school left. I promised my wife I wouldn't move her if I could avoid it because she had to move around a lot as a child.
After that I can't see myself staying here any longer. I'll be 46-47 and already just want away from the culcha, crime and corruption.

Son, it’s far far far nicer with amenities St Tammy could only dream of.
LA is so far behind the curve it’s pathetic.
One thing LA definitely has the upper hand is saltwater fishing. There’s no comparison there. I’d LOVE to have the Grand Isle camp on the TX coast, but nature doesn’t allow for it. Granted Rockport is nice (sans Harvey).
