Mobile is gonna rape you.

Four. If you leave at two you'll be in Mobile at rush hour and it will take you an hour just to get through the tunnel.

Sorry. Not fully awake yet. Which would be better, traffic-wise? Or will it matter?

Ya'll do realize there's a second tunnel and a bridge, right? And then when you cross the river there's a causeway that runs parallel with the interstate?

Unless you have a plane to bypass Mobile traffic, I would leave at 4 so you hit it after rush hour.

3 hours to get there
Leave at 2 sit in traffic for an hour Get there at 6
Leave at 4 get there 7

Follow red line when traffic is reported as being bad. Use Blue line if you just want to jump off and take the other tunnel, but this may not always save time.
That silly roundabout way high lighted in red will save you a half hour in rush hour traffic.

Yes, and so do a bunch of other folks. I've tried this before and it wasn't any better.

Thanks, I wondered about that. I know the other way, too, but didn't know whether it mattered anymore.

Are they going to close the tunnel when they open the new bridge in Mobile or will the bridge be used to expand capacity?

But if you leave at four you'll hit the beach traffic at the tunnel that left New Orleans after work.

Whether you make it to Mobile at 3:30 or 5:30, you're sitting in a shite load of traffic. Like my granddad used to say.....Son, you're getting a shite sandwich. Would you like it on toast or not?
Leaving at 2 puts you to your destination earlier, so I say 2.
I've got a similar decision on July 2. Pray for me.
