Don't forget.....RaceTracs....Slidell has three of them along with Scuttlebutt and check cashing/ payday loan joints. With that type of economic development who needs anything else....oh yeah, and hospitals

The idiot politicians that represent Slidell really need to get some half way decent jobs to that city. No more strip malls or casino shite.
Go out and get some logistics centers, or some kid of manufacturing. That’s been the biggest difference between Slidell and Mandeville/Covington.
Slidell has seemed content thinking their a bed room community and has only built strip malls with minimum wage jobs. while Mandeville & Covington continue to pull in white collar jobs.

It passed in only 14 of the 170 precincts. Not sure where those 14 are located.

I just looked at the precinct %, only 18 voted for. The other 152 voted against. One was way up on the border of LA and MS, and I’m not doing the leg work for the other ones. A lot were the 00/9XX precincts so wherever those are.

This thing was never about the grand resort. It was about a few people cashing in on the development and the casino relocating to a more lucrative market. I admit that I voted for it purely for selfish reasons . I’m fairly certain that the development would have ended up falling short of promises.
Slidell is a bedroom community. That’s what the people want and I’m just glad that people got to vote.
