re: Slidell casino - "No Dice" | Final Score: David 63% - Goliath 37%

And this is partially why people in Slidell want nothing to do with this casino. It's not just Slidell but the entire Northshore doesn't want this project near them. The less that comes out of New Orleans, the better it is for the area. Considering the decline of the Northshore area thanks to no other than New Orleans, they'll happily decline this casino.
It ain't perfect in Slidell but at least it's not NO and that's good enough for those people there.

Nice to know the people of Slidell are still dumb as shite.

Have you been to Slidell / Pearl River?

What a Renaissance of the East that was surely missed!
When I close my eyes, I can still see the new Super Pawn and PayDay Loan Center that would have been the bookends of the new Financial Center!
You are extremely naive if you think those operators weren’t expecting 85% of their revenue to come from a 15 mile radius…

Lol this is probably pretty accurate.

There is absolutely nothing the government or private business can do to save the East. If there was something that can be done why hasn’t New Orleans done anything to try to stop it’s decline? Tesla could open up a plant there and it wouldn’t make it a year due to the daily theft that would occur.

I think the sub-plot to all this is that the people of STP have lost all trust in Parish officials. Their bullshite detectors were on high alert.
I usually scoff at people when they start their customary and uninformed accusations: "under the table", "back-room deals", "enriching themselves", etc, etc. But this time was different. When you do the autopsy on this misadventure and look at the cast of characters, it became pretty clear there were carpet baggers waiting in the wings. It was an epic fumble. On the casino's side of the equation, they tried too hard, as the USPS breathes a sigh of relief.

It's amusing reading the smugness of people who live in the shittiest suburban sprawl in the country act like they're in utopia and how dare anyone else try anything else other than build more ChicFilA's and Dollar Generals in a half empty strip mall.

If you were at all educated enough to learn about the owner operator, you’d see they are a repeated failure cut rate company. If it were a Caesar or Wynn property, etc., I would have 100% voted for it.
But you’re a moron keyboard cowboy so go pound sand.

Yes moron, beucase this was just about Slidell. You fricking people are so uneducated you can’t even do more than read headlines and think you’re making educated statements.

The casino that was actually located in the East at Lakefront airport folded easily forever ago but for some reason you are extremely butt hurt over the citizens of a parish you don’t reside in deciding what’s best for them.
That one didn’t fold. They closed because of Hurricane Katrina and damage associated with that event. They did not want to reopen there due to economic uncertainty and waited 2 years to get St. Mary Parish voters to approve gambling and then the Amelia Belle was born.

It's even more amusing reading the smugness from Nola liberals telling anyone else how to properly run a community. If this casino is so great, build it in your hood.

Nah their overly evangelical side came out… St Tammany missed out on a lot of revenue they weren’t currently getting

It’s amusing to see the smugness in this post. Sounds like you want to drag the rest of us down to your level. Keep your close minded, yet perceived open mindedness on the South shore. Your queen thanks you.

You couldn't get people in Mandeville / Covington vote for things that would control flooding. They live under the illusion that with close to 250,000 people St. Tammany is still a quiet bedroom community
