One day people are going to realize that having everything in your house reliant upon the internet maybe isn't the best idea
a smart hub controlling everything in your house is only smart as long as will.i.am doesn't purchase the company and shut the cloud down. (ok that one still stings)
same for everything; sounds great until 'fly by night' company can't pay their AWS bill and the site goes offline and your doodad is bricked for life.
eta see the 20 different EV manufacturers who tried to be Elon during the Biden years who sold people cars that no longer work

You don’t need a screen on your fridge. You don’t need your mattress to connect to the internet.
I do not understand this stuff.
What update do you need on your mattress?

Honestly, if you buy one of these and get fricked over by it......you deserve it.

Having a bed...that can take advantage of the internet is fine.
No, it really isn't, it's stupid.
My phone, and occasionally my laptop, are the only things I have that connect to the internet - and even then it's not 24/7.

This obsession of everything being online is insane.

A lot of these conveniences make it far more inconvenient. Just like light switches. What's more convenient? - Grab your phone, unlock the phone, launch the app, select the correct switch, toggle it OR - Flip the switch on the wall
Sure, if you’re standing next to the wall. And if you are, you should definitely just flip the switch. What if you’re in bed and remember you left a light on across the house? I don’t even have smart lights and can still see the benefit of having lights that can access the internet but don’t have to versus lights that can’t.

I’ll think of you this winter when I kick the heater on in the morning without needing to get out of bed to do so

Vacuum packer.
Except that when someone refers to a “sous vide” as a noun, they are obviously referring to a device that heats and circulates water around something that has already been vacuum packed to engage in the method of cooking commonly referred to as “sous vide”.
But you already knew that

Not flaming. This is an honest question. What's advantageous about an internet capable appliance?

Would depend heavily on the appliance. Anything in particular you’re curious about?

Well, my lights are on a schedule to turn themselves on at sunset, so I haven't touched the switches in a year. Red, of course, to preserve my tactical vision.

This almost sounds like the plot to the movie Maximum Overdrive where a comet passes near earth and machines start acting on their own.
AI be damned.

Anyone that owns an internet connected mattress should be culled from the species.

Internet on a mattress is so beyond insane to me
