To give up a place at school so that another race can take my spot is insanity.

This was not stated or a point made at the presentation. It was at best an off-handed comment made by one presenter in the middle of a word salad discussion.
Mainly discussion of "white privilege" and "systemic racism," but it was completely disorganized and was a terrible presentation and waste of time.
Crisis averted
School isn't sending out fake presentations to parents and they don't want whites going to BRCC
If this is true i'd say crisis NOT averted.

Yes - Basques and Celts are related which explains the craziness - lol - they’re like Spanish Scots
They do make some good wine though

There are whole organizations that exist to get minorities into four year institutions - I’m not saying that some of the kids don’t deserve it
But if you’re coming from a terrible school and did ok - why should you get a free ride to Yale?

From parents on political talk so it has to be true
highlights from their inclusivity training at SJA in Baton Rouge
- White priviledge
- Defunding the police and why its reasonable
- To correct disparity caused by generational wealth, the white kids should consider going to a community college instead of a 4 year university to make room for minorities.
How do the OT parents feel about this?
Ya, sending minorities to get 250k in debt to go to college will really help build wealth lol.

I’m not surprised. My daughter graduated from there last year. SJA is lefty - taught her all kinds of crazy stuff regarding the environment (humans will cause the next great disaster as bad as the one that killed the dinosaurs) and immigration of Muslims and how we should let them all in. She came home so upset after watching a movie about Muslim women who tried to come here because they were being beaten by their husbands but couldn’t get in right away. I told her they had to come legally and seek asylum and follow the proper procedures. She said but they’re being beaten. I said that’s acceptable under sharia law and in their countries. The men are allowed to beat their wives and daughters. So be glad you were born and live in America, the country your generation is being taught to hate.
She was livid and called me cold hearted. I said the world is not a perfect place. Heaven is.
I told her these countries with sharia law need to change & the only long term solution is to work towards spreading Christianity in THEIR countries. I said if SJA is so upset about it then maybe they should take a mission trip and spread the Gospel in the towns where these women are being beaten. I’m sure your lefty teachers will come back Patriots after that trip, IF they make it back.
I told her how Europe allowed so many in that they now have sharia law “no go zones” —wife beaters etc spreading across their lands.
she’s like not all Muslims are bad. i told her no of course not but the ones who grow up under sharia law thinking it’s cool to beat your wives and daughters and mutilate their genitalia so they can’t experience pleasure are. so we have to thoroughly vet which Muslims we allow in, otherwise the problem these women are running to America from could begin taking root here in America. Then what country will anyone have left to seek asylum in? She stormed off.
In addition to the environment and immigration there’s sex stuff. she flips out when she hears things like “you have to buy the cow before you get the milk.” She says women aren’t cows. I told her this saying came about 100s of years ago and that cows used to be prized possessions and are actually beautiful creatures of great value. She also hates when i say boys will be boys (we have 3 sons). That one reallllly makes her mad.
Speaking of boys, CHS is still pretty sane. Our son is a senior there.
maybe the picture he paints of chs isn’t accurate but he says the lefty teachers at least allow the boys to debate them. He says They don’t TEACH their lefty beliefs. He says the teacher might bring up a topic then ask the class what their thoughts about it are. Through these discussions my son is able to tell which teachers are leftists. But he doesn’t feel like they are brainwashing the students like SJA is.
But CHS won’t be an option for our younger daughter, now in 7th grade. We will have to consider Dunham for her, i guess. But she will kick and scream because she won’t want to leave her friends. If she goes to SJA we would have to deprogram her weekly.....

Even Baton Rouge High suggests that to kids now. If BRCC is 1/2 the cost of LSU and you're going for general eds that transfer to LSU, why not take that road. You can easily save 8-10k in 2 years doing this. It makes a ton of sense for kids without rich parents or scholarships
Well and the schools here have partnered with KCTCS (Kentucky Community and Technical College System, our CCs) where several of the high schools have classes they can go ahead and take to fulfill their high school credit as well as college credit. They can do that at the 4-years, but there's a cost and it's significantly cheaper through the CC system or free depending on the course.

Ditto on all this. Daughter graduated from SJA 5-6 years ago and son from CHS thereafter. Same profile. Daughter is a mini-SJW. Son is a more critical thinker. However, I foresee a change in daughter once the real world and taxes kick in. The woman works hard and when 50-60% of her work is gone each month, it will get real.

This all started because of an SJA student in 11th grade posting on Snapchat something like “looking like a straight up n————r” the whole word with the R (my son made sure to point that out to me by saying “with the hard r” — apparently without the hard r is acceptable for some white people sometimes)
She had a bandanna on her head and i think some new “kicks” maybe.....
One of her “friends” took a screenshot and it ended up “going viral” in the teenage world. She was asked to leave SJA and the President and dean of women sent this letter to the parents in an email:
Dear Parents, Alumnae and Friends of St. Joseph’s Academy,
We are writing to apprise you of a situation that occurred this weekend involving an inappropriate social media post by a student at St. Joseph’s Academy. The post contained inappropriate and racially insensitive language, and the matter is being taken very seriously by the administration.
This morning, Principal Stacia Andricain and President Jan Breen addressed the student body to stress the expectations in place at our Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. They stressed that there is no place at SJA for inappropriate language, attitudes or racial insensitivity and also stressed the need to model responsibility at all times: in the classroom, at home and online.
Mrs. Andricain reminded students that SJA is working with a diversity and inclusion consultant, Dr. Katrice Albert, who is a leading national voice for equity-minded, culturally responsive and compassionate leadership. She announced that students will be a critical part of this undertaking. The administrative team will meet with each grade level in the very near future for meaningful dialogue, followed by the students meeting and working with Dr. Albert.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our mission to educate our young woman as responsible and unifying members of the world community. Our beloved Sisters of St. Joseph ask this of us: to love and serve the dear neighbor without distinction. We are committed to their desire that all may be one.
Sincerely,
Jan R. Breen
President

So i understand that this is embarrassing and upsetting to the school. But one girl out of 1,500 doesn’t make the entire school racist. And the entire student body shouldn’t be made to feel guilty about what this one girl did. But it is what it is. Social media and immature unwise teens is a bad combination. Boob pics, penis pics, racist pics, etc. Teach your THINK before they post. Or better yet keep them off all of that as long as possible. It’s not easy policing them 24/7 though. And people act like it’s so easy to go through your kids’ phones. It’s not. It makes you feel like a real jerk.

it'd be tough to distinguish between the kids who were college bound prior to cc enrollment vs the kids who had no other option.
As a person who attended community college I can easily say you can walk in the classroom and figure this out immediately. And its not a black/white thing, its just an attitude and self presentation thing.
The people I had the most respect for though were the people in their late 20s, early 30s that had to bring their kids and leave them in the hallway with an Ipad cuz kids weren't allowed in the classroom. Those people were trying to turn their lives around and weren't making any excuses about it.

I shudder to think of some of the stupid things I'd have probably posted at 15-18 if I'd have had access to social media. Luckily I didn't even have a cell phone until after I was out of college.
I found my HS senior year journal the other day in the attic and peering back into my 17-18 yr old mind was quite terrifying

As I said in the PT thread,
This is what Bill Burr was talking about with white women hijacking the woke movement.
SJA by all accounts is getting pretty liberal for a Catholic school in Baton Rouge.
ETA: haven’t looked this whole thread, but allegedly the staff got an email pushing Joe Biden.

It's disappointing that a private school would be pressured to discipline a student in a certain way due to an angry internet mob. Teenagers make mistakes, and water is wet. Parents, administrators, and the religious advisors should have been allowed to handle that privately.
The best approach to all of this would be to align these lessons with Catholic social teaching, so these girls walk away from these sessions with a Biblical frame of reference. It's an opportunity for the school to teach these girls to walk the talk. This would include what they post on social media.
I'm disappointed they canceled it, because I would like to hear the story from my own child. I'm not sure if I'm "meh" or enraged, lol.

That's possibly true, although I do think many, many discipline issues are handled in house (with parents), as they should be. But really, our current political climate, rona, cancel culture, etc. have really ramped up the pressure.
