but would I really be paying an extra $675 in property taxes if I lived in Texas or Tennessee? No way.
You are obviously very unaware of how bad Texas butt rape folks with property taxes

I made about 220k in earnings another 75k in gambling winnings and 57k (go daddy reseller program) in residual income. I write off everything and still paid close to 60 thousand in taxes. I'm always working. You don't make real money and go home at 5pm. Saturday night 3am, working. Always working.
Besides clothes I like to dress I would be perfectly content making 40k a year I'm not very materialistic give me A good steak some good horse racing and some camel wides and I'm a happy man. I work too MUCH to spend money when i am off i dont want to go no sjere2

Then you're doing it wrong my friend.

Eh, not everyone. I paid cash for my wife's professional degree. She graduates in a month
ETA: I paid for my own graduate degree too, but it was cheaper than hers.

Unless you have some advantages over graduates from cheaper schools sounds like you made a poor investment. Schools like TCU should be for either kids with scholarships or wealthy parents
If you were 18 and had a chance to play football at the school you grew up rooting for would you give a crap about how much it would cost at the time?

I have been trying to get a part time job on the weekends. No one wants to hire me though, they want full time availability
Yeah I could work delivering pizzas or working in fast food but I don't want a 2nd job just to have one. I want a 2nd job I wouldn't mind doing, like bartending or waiting tables

Not true at all. I rarely work more than 40 hours a week and I make what I would consider "real money".

I'd have probably be all over it but my parents would have talked sense into me.

But did you actually PLAY? I'm not talking about as a scrub, did you actually contribute to any wins or loses?

Is this life as awesome as I'm imagining? Let's assume single by choice with no latent desires to settle down. No kids obviously.
I can't even get beyond just the money savings part.
It varies a lot by location. That amount of money in NYC or even Chicago as a single guy is comfortable but nothing special. You're one of thousands in exactly the same situation. That kind of money as a single guy in a smaller city or large town is probably pretty damn nice for a lot of reasons.
Oh, and like others have said, you get fricked on taxes.

Debt free except for my house,
The only suck part is single gets taxed hard.

I'm not married, low 30's, debt free and making close to $250k with bonuses. I don't live an extravagant life except for travel so my net worth is around $1mm. I don't plan on working after 50 unless I still love my job.

Almost 50 years old. Single. Making around 70 k but taxes are a bitch. Life goes by quickly. Can't take the IRA to your grave. Gotta enjoy your mom and dad. Both of mine are gone. When I hear songs from the 1980's I smile and cry at the same time. Enjoy your 20's young folks. It goes by fast.

No doubt. It seems like I was in college yesterday. A decade flew by fast. Enjoy your college experience for sure.

Well aren't you lucky... But if you must know, it was for my MBA (which is from a top program).

Yeah. His father was the same way. But his dad also died old, rich, and alone so....

It's pretty lame this thread turned into another tax bitching thread.
I paid more federal taxes than the US average household income. I'm well aware they exist and they suck. It's not like only single people pay them.

I'm 30 and make mid-6 figures. Zero debt. I work more than I'd like (and it's super stressful) but pretty much travel nonstop in my free time. Grew up in a wealthy family so my lifestyle doesn't feel different than growing up.
Life is good. I've been a bit bummed out lately and this thread makes me feel better about things. :lol
