The Onion hasn’t been relevant in a decade.

The best was their coverage of Bush v. Gore in 2000

The “Ask a…” advice series was always good for a laugh.

My favorite was Ask a Navy SEAL.

I attended a conference with the CEO and COO of The Onion and they played this to introduce their brand. I laughed uncontrollably at the abortion segment, then had to be in a project group with them and they wanted nothing to do with me.

I still find it funny.

The two articles I’ll never forget are:

1) I think it was titled “Yesterday’s ‘Hagar the Horrible’ hit a little too close to home.” Or something like that.

2) After Favre “retired” the first time they ran an article about how the Packers gave him to a nice farm family where he’d have plenty of room for him to run and play.

I haven't followed the Onion in 20 years, so that might be the case now, but I've read Bee articles posted here many times, and the Onion, in its 90's heyday, shite all over anything the Bee has ever done. I've never seen any subtle humor in a Bee article. They just beat you over the head with the joke which makes for poor satire.

Nothing to do with politics, I often agree with the position they're pushing, I just don't find it that funny to simply present an obvious, and on-the-nose, absurd conclusion to political topics. I don't find John Oliver funny for the same reason.

If anything, the Bee is more absurdist humor, as opposed to satire, and I've just never been a big fan of absurdist humor.
