That's bad

Cantrell get rid of some red light cameras then she try to finesse everyone with speeding tickets for 1 mph over the limit.

god she is so dumb

That's probably why the cameras are "operated" by companies outside the state.

So, some lawyers in NOLA are saying that now the boots are only for parking tickets and not license plate tickets.
I haven't read this on any news site.
Though many seem to believe it

Say I got a ticket in NOLA for speeding on a camera. I move to a different state and get a new plate. Would that plate still come up when they scanned?

Not 6 mts ago when I took my wife’s suv to la boca downtown and got by to the vehicle parked on Julia and Tchop with a $1400 boot fine slapped on the side window, that was one expensive ribeye. Maybe the rule changed when they took down all the non school zone cameras a few months back.

No, that’s not how it works at all.

There are vans that drive around the city scanning license plates of parked cars on the street, regardless of whether your parked legally or not. If your plate comes up as having unpaid red light or parking tickets, you get a boot. Then you have the pleasure of returning their boot to the city impound under the interstate in the fricking projects.

They can not boot your car now unless you have 3 outstanding tickets. The city council passed this a few months ago. So I have to give some credit to Cantrell there for supporting it as an undue burden on the people.

And she did do away with a lot of the cameras. She apparently did not know just how much money the camera tickets brought in. It seems that only certain spots are doing the 4 mph over tickets vs. 6 mph. I think it should stay 6 over.

thats what happened when a certain culture get power. They do not have the intelligence to realize the things that keeps the city a float. They just see money they can steal. It is happening in BR too.

I have no sympathy for anyone who speeds in a school zone - by any amount, no matter how small.

My problem is this. Those cameras are using a radar gun that is a pretty decent distance away. I feel like it's not an exact measurement, and to have a tolerance of only 1 mph (i.e. at 22 mph you get a ticket in a 20 mph zone) it is likely that you were perhaps not speeding at all.

I feel like a 5 mph tolerance is a reasonable amount to ensure that people aren't incorrectly given tickets.

If I was an attorney and got a ticket for 22 mph, I'd subpoena the hell out of the maintenance records for those cameras.

Nah. You're giving out false information that would potentially cost people hundreds of dollars.

Go frick yourself. If you lose any money because of my post without doing additional research then you deserve it.
I wasn’t aware of something that changed so recently. It used to not be that way.
