re: Simple question: Why do older generations rag on the younger when they created them?

Cause they’re jealous.

I can still remember when BR wasn't a criminal hell hole, for example. I hate the change it's gone through.

“Our youth now love luxury, they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders, and they love to chatter instead of exercise. Children are now tyrants not servants of their household. They no longer rise when elders enter the room"-Socrates

Better question: Why do younger generations rag on the older when they were created by them?

We made them soft thinking we were helping them. The competency crisis is very real.
And what's weirder is that the GEN X parents who raised these kids to be so pussified, were a generation of kids who were left alone, ignored, and basically self sufficient and independent. I don't understand how a generation that prides itself on being independent and tough could foster kids who are so soft.

I think it comes with the territory. My grandpa ragged on my dad's generation. My dad ragged on mine. And now, I'm starting to rag on my daughters generation. Granted she's only 4 but they have some real punks in that age group.

Simpler question: Why do younger generations rag on the older when they were created by them?
You owe your literal existence to them and all you do is bitch and complain. Just say “thanks”’and go live your life- even if it’s not as easy as you’d like it to be.
I felt there was a much bigger generation gap between me and my father than me and my children. Even though my dad and I butted heads a lot during my teens and early 20s, I still respected him, and it never occurred to me to blame his generation for the problems of the day. Feces occur. I don't think his generation blamed their parents for the depression and war either.

Why does the “greatest generation” not get more criticism for creating the boomers?

I find that most of the complaints come from the grandparents of the youth, not the parents of the youth.

Every generation in history has chirped about the youngsters.

Why do younger generations rag older generations when they will one day be the same?
Respect…. They’ve been there before, and might know what they are talking about.

My kids are well educated, stay out of trouble and are highly successful in their chosen fields. They are financially secure and want for nothing.
However, other kids of their generation display serious character flaws.
Is their failure to launch or display strong character my problem?
Do I forfeit any right to my public opinion about their whiney attitudes and failure to become responsible adults?
I think not.
And yes, participation trophy is a common image which encapsulates the depiction of these whiney adult brats.
And if this bothers you, call me a "try hard" or "boomer." Does not bother me because it displays the identities of the people involved to everyone present.
Go ahead and step in that pile.
I have beer and popcorn.
