Same thing happened to me last year between jobs. I asked multiple people on HR about benefits. I had given three weeks notice and left with exactly one week left in the month. My new employer was asking me about start date and enrollment in health insurance. I opted to start on a Monday about a week into the month, rather than the 1st of the month but the new boss said I could backdate my enrollment to the 1st. Since more than one person at the old job had told me I’d have insurance to the end of the month there wasn’t going to be any lapse in coverage. Until I took my son to the doc during the week I was off work and they told me my BCBS was labeled as inactive. Went round and round with HR at the old job but nothing ever came from it. I guess once you’re gone all they have to tell you is you can pay for Cobra.

That sucks especially since you asked. My employer just pointed to the employer handbook as their reasoning, claiming there is typically a waiting period to enroll in benefits at companies but at this company, they let you enroll the day of your first day. Because of that, they terminate same day.
Anyway, COBRA can be back dated for 90 days. So you don’t actually have to pay for it unless you end up needing it.

Dick move for your former employer. Benefits do usually last until EOM.

Not sure how it works out but does cobra kick in?

Good Job! Your employer wiped their arse with you. It is time to earn your company new business opportunities

Major dick move and not surprising
You are entitled to COBRA but that’s expensive

I feel like you obviously knew this was a dick move. Don’t know why you’d even ask after putting it that way.

So, dick move by employer or not a big deal?
1000% dick move by employer. I've been fired and didn't even have that happen. They were really mad at you and petty as frick about it.

I would think if you paid your monthly premium it should end the after that month. Are you entitled to some funds back as they may be getting funds back as well? Remember that your unborn child isn't their issue. They are a business and profit is the purpose. Once you are gone there isn't a reason to keep wasting resources on you

Your benefits end on your last day of employment. If that hasn't been your past experience the employer was doing to a favor. I guess they really only owe you a final paycheck and accrued vacation time.

30 days of coverage from date of resignation. Unless otherwise stated.

your premiums are paid through the end of the month try your insurance it will still work
Posted on 3/26/23 at 6:39 pm to catfish 62
I have rebadged twice, and both times the coverage dates ended on my resignation date, and the new employer insurance back-pays anything that was accrued before I was fully onboarded to their benefits plan as a new hire. I've never heard of a health benefit plan that extended "through the end of the month". That shite is shut down as soon as you don't work there anymore.

I wouldn't be starting new adventure when my wife was one month away from birth. I feel sorry for the child that emerged from this marriage. but I'm sure 20 years from now San Fran will welcome him.
