Former minor league Shreveport baseball field to be demolished at cost of half a million
Lived there bout 93 - 95ish. Was too young to really go out and about, but Southpark Mall and the movies.
Went to Southwood(?)freshman year, Keithville before. Lived in Hillside Apartments off Dean Rd.
Did ride-along for some mud rides down the street (the loop). We had two pools so everyone came to hang out at the complex. Anybody ever go out to the abandoned Elerby School? Heard so many stories about that place.

That would have been the original Captain’s Stadium/ SPAR Stadium in Allendale/ Murphy St. Area.
Fairgrounds Field was opened in 86.

Captains games were fun well into the 90’s. frick those shitty motherfrickers who changed the name and moved them to Texas.
They played “Ship of Fools” on the PA before every game. Weird memory, but true.

Veterans park amphitheater
This was awesome when I was a kid. It was just off the parkway north of downtown. Now it’s just trash like captains stadium.

If anyone is on Facebook (yeah FB, I know) there is a page called Twin Blends. Twin brothers, Shreveport natives, grew up in Southern Hills. They research and digitalize old photo archives from the Noel library, newspapers, private collections, etc. There are tons of pics and historical info to go with them about Shreveport/Bossier and surrounding areas, from all eras. Worth looking into if you’re on FB.

I remember being a kid in the late 80s/early 90s, and the cool older kids at the pool talked about going to Cowboy’s.
