Should Lakeview/West End vote to be annexed by JP?

JPSO would take care of the car break in problem the first day. The streets would be updated quicker than NOLA will ever get to them. And eventually other public services would be improved as well. That area could accomplish, overnight, what St. George could only hope to accomplish. Also, it's a nice area that would be a great edition to the best parish in the state. Thoughts?

Absolutely. And Orleans parish can have the westbank in return.

I wish but it'll never happen. NOLA isn't gonna let one of their highest tax base leave them.

Times like these i wish Harry Lee was still around

Metairie is going downhill. I don't want that Bucktown trash in my neighborhood.

A ton of Lakeview streets have been re-done in the last five years. Just not sure how long the new ones will stay in good shape.

And this is just a silly question. Lakeview is proud to be in Nola so they can say they aren't Metairie.

To much money to be taxed in that area. So it can re do streets in the lower nine with one house on it.

New Orleans is an awesome place to hang out and visit but i wouldnt give that corrupt city one dime to live there.

Crime is everywhere even if it isnt violent the streets are horrible the infrastructure is failing and police are a joke its getting better but thats not saying much. Public schools outside Lusher and ben Franklin are a failure insurance is higher and property tax is through the roof. You have zero roi except to say you live in 70124.

If West End and Lakeview were part of JP I'd imagine so

Do Lakeview people want this? They want to be suburban soccer moms but want to say they live in New Orleans

A parish north of Jefferson would have something to say about this

Not true.

As someone who sold my house in Lakeview a couple years back, i can say that the best thing about living there is that it’s obnoxiously convenient you anything you would ever want to do... hang out in the Quarter? A 10 minute Uber ride... Christmas in the Oaks? A 3 minute car ride away.. Lakefront for a jog? Depending on where you live in LV, it’s only a couple minutes away.. Costco to pick up a few things? 4 or 5 minutes and you’re there.... All that said, there are definitely reasons i dont live there anymore: Infrastucture, flooding, etc etc.. But the ‘Oh those people just want to say they live in NOLA and not Metry blah blah’ argument is just tired and false.

West Lakeview tried it back in the 90’s, didn’t work...

Side note: There was a water main break at Bonnabel and Codifer Friday at 12:30, we sat through a Christmas School concert and headed back home with our kids. It was fixed and filled before 3pm. You think NOS&wB could do that...

Had my car rifled through once, in Old Metairie.

Got a call from a probation officer about a year and a half later. They wanted my opinion on paroling the kid.

It’s not convenient if you’re kids go to school uptown and you work elsewhere.

Lake view is close to the bottom of the livable neighborhoods I’d choose to live in.

I’d rather live in Algiers point than Lake View

As a single guy or with a family?

I see what you’re saying but it doesn’t make sense for most people.
