The high risk bullet is not subjective. It's literally defined in the EUA for mAB.

Then local doctors need to adjust the criteria for mAb treatment because the criteria for aAb therapy according to the EUA is not broad enough to keep people out of the hospital.

The equation is simple. More people infected with CV, regardless of vaccine status, that receive mAb therapy the less stress on the hospital occupancy.

Like 99% of people that get covid don't need this therapy.

Did he say Louisiana is setting up mAb therapy sites to make it more easily available?

True, but the point is to take the pressure off the hospitals as the virus ebbs and flows though the population. This appears to be the solution.

Appears so: LINK

I had the therapy done on Fridayblast week after testing positive on Thursday. I had very very light sinus infection type feeling. I did it because I had hears it was the way to go and not to mess around with CV.
The next day there were not any symptoms and that has stayed that way. Still have to quarantine but would recommend. The infusion took 20 minutes once they prepped me and then had to wait for one hour of observation.

From his press conference just last week

quote:

He also said that Louisiana is working to make monoclonal antibody treatments more accessible in the state.

Edwards said 176 providers currently offer the treatment. He said that anyone who tests positive and shows symptoms should contact their doctor and ask about the treatment where they will be then referred to a site.

Edwards said there were 7,000 infusions just last week, and doses administered since July 1 is up more than 2700 percent.

Of course he should.

FYI, Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia, Abbeville General, Kaplan hospital are all doing these if you're in the area.

Have NO clue if you need an order or what qualifies you for it BUT these places ARE doing them.

Texas and Florida are setting up monoclonal antibody therapy sites across their states. FL, TX. If you test positive for CV, regardless of vaccines status you can receive monoclonal antibody therapy free at one of the state run facilities in Texas and Florida.

MS is way ahead of TX and FL with antibody therapy sites. Currently there are 170 sites in the State and no doctor referral is needed. All you need is a positive covid test and meet the requirements for treatment.

Then good.

I guess we don't hear about JBE's efforts to make mAb therapy readily available because his politics don't reach the national news like Abbott and DeSantis. But it is good news that he is promoting it.

One thing that is apparent to me in this entire discussion, doctors that have the authority to implement mAb therapy in Louisiana were too stingy the last few months. As a result Louisiana hospitals were overwhelmed. Louisiana doctors need to loosen their criteria for mAb therapy for CV patients. It's obviously too tight right now.

You simply are just incorrect

We have sent more people than we have antibodies available. Most patients had to wait a day minimum because of this, some more

Also, a lot of our patients say “I don’t need no treatment for a virus I have a 99% chance of survival…..”

1) Supply is an issue

2) mAB treatments are really only effective if received early. A lot of people wait till the symptoms worsen till they seek help and then its too late for mAB treatment.

JBE should start governing and attracting business and industry into the state instead of acting as our own personal mask and vaccine czar.
