You should work harder to get that promotion. Sounds like you're content where you're at and with your lifestyle. Mix things up in your personal life. Do something other than watch tv and drink beer 7 nights a week

It's much more laid back. Would be pretty much un-supervised.

sounds like you're lazy and would consider giving up free time to work less

Night shift sucks. Does have its advantages though. The paper pushers aren't there to meddle and interfere with your work. All thay aside, can't wait until I'm on dayshift again.

Last night was an off night for me. Went to sleep at 2:30am, up at 5:45am. Now have to nap soon so I can go back in tonight.

People that I know that work nights drink beer and watch tv at like 8am

Was in Dearborn, MI a couple of years ago with a friend who lives up there. We left the house about 9 am to get breakfast and he said “check this out.” Took me to a steel workers bar to get breakfast. I have been to service industry places and places in NOLA where people have a beer with breakfast plenty of times. This place was on a whole other level. Night shift had let off at 7am. All the windows were blacked out and it was like 10 on a Friday night in there. People getting hammered, chicks dancing on pool tables, etc. Was really strange.

Pros: Depending on the job..I didn't have to deal with the office BS. No hassles from a supervisor. Quiet working atmosphere. Take care of personal stuff during the day. It was great for me.
Cons: Out of touch with friends. Lost a few relationships/GFs because of hours.

I worked nights for a couple of years many years ago. It was miserable watching the 10:00 news knowing I'd normally be getting ready for bed but was instead getting ready to go to work.

But then you’re just watching the clock tick for hours. Stay on days. Transitioning to nights is a bitch.

don't do it unless you have to. i did for 2 years and i lost touch with the real world lol

Looks left, right, up, down.

You say it like that's a bad thing. The world is so fricked up, night shift is appealing as it can be. No boss hovering and calling for more shite, no stupid people calling on the phones, sending emails/texts. So much more productivity w/out idiots interrupting every few minutes. Screw putting up with people who cannot communicate in a comprehensive manner, as night shift they HAVE to write it down and I do it just like they write it. (attach copy of written order to output).

I did it for several years and loved it. You make new friends in the night worker crowd so no big deal. Kinda fun to hit the bar for beers after work w/friends at 7am.

My only issues were scheduling repairs/maintenance as most of that tries to complete by 3m-4pm so they can then slack off on way back to base and clock out.

If you get paid more and don't have a family, why not. If you have a family, I for one wouldn't because that's when the bbc slips in.

it was in baton rouge so pretty much the only option was hollywood casino since we couldn't drink at Lauberge. It was a pretty exciting/fun job but the hours started to wear on me. I missed out on a lot of life. money was damn good though and i had time to do all my school work once things slowed down in the morning.

it's pretty hard to get a girl to frick at noon on a monday.

Tons of married men would come by at noon for lunch n load or blow n go.
