Nearly EVERY new drug commercial doesn’t fail to mention “Don’t use Blankazol if you’ve ever tested positive for Tuberculosis” or “Get tested for tuberculosis before taking Blankazol”

I tested positive for TB after getting back from Iraq in the Army and spent 6mo taking some drug everyday and after taking that 6mo drug regime, I was told that I’d have nothing to worry about...

Was I misinformed?

Sounds like something to ask your physician and not a message board.

I find it hard to believe that the government would do that.

The OT internal medicine clinic has a $3.50 copay. Please settle up with the receptionist on your way out.

Not worried, there’s PLENTY of qualified medical professionals here that give sound advice. Duh.

From my understanding, anything that weakens your immune system is your main concern for keeping TB in check after taking INH.

So things like HIV, chemo, long-term steroid use, etc.

Other than those, you should be in the clear, but I welcome the OT docs advice who certainly know more than me.

ETA: same thing happened to me in Afghanistan

You think that contracted civilians would “toe the gov’t line” and lie to me about my prognosis?

Pretty much. An example would be a biologic which affects a bodies immune system by suppressing the response.

I was told that my chances of “contracting TB” would lower from 15% to like 3% if I spent the 6mo taking the prescription... does that sound familiar?

It sounds like these other diseases with medical treatments with adverse effects is what you should be worried about. No joke, the other day I saw a side effect that was taint related. Of course they tried not to alarm you by saying perineum instead.

His arm strength has fallen off and he doesn't look great right now, but he always seems to get it done in the playoffs.

So, I certainly wouldn't overlook him.

No, you weren’t misinformed. You’ll be fine. What you experienced is the standard treatment for TB. Because TB is a mycobacterium, it grows slowly. Thus the need for a lengthy treatment period.

TB was once under control in the US but the alien invasion across our southern border has caused near epidemic outbreaks in parts of the country. One particularly insidious type, bovine tuberculosis, was completely wiped out but was reintroduced in San Diego via bathtub cheese made by illegal aliens. Mexico has one of the highest rates of TB infections in the world. 30% of their citizens are infected.

I wouldn’t be worried about TB. Seems like he’s lost a step this year and the patriots aren’t as dominant as once feared.
