Looks like a pretty clear cut case of self defense to me, but knowing NYC they'll probably charge the guy defending himself because he didn't just lay down and die.

All those stories about how NY-ers never make eye contact whilst walking on sidewalks or riding in the subway....well, I get it now and don't fault their "avoid conflict" daily routine.

This is exactly the opposite of how I act while in Atlanta multiple times a week for 20+ years. I purposefully make eye contact with anyone I see as a threat. I do so to let them know I see them and in my mind I’m thinking “I will fricking end you”. I do this so my face shows that and I truly believe they can feel that energy.

If the subway is so safe, why did the Governor and the Mayor deploy the National Guard?

And you're wrong. The media under reports the problem.

The boyfriend was squaring up with the guy. He wasn't a victim. I suspect he's going to prison

I moved to Manhattan in 1972. Leased a 3,000 sq. ft. loft in Soho in 1973 in the early days for $500 a month. Walked to work for a couple of decades. The city now reminds me of the really bad Dinkins years when the murder rate hit 30/100,000.

When Giuliani came in, I could feel the difference on the street after a couple of months.

Was including the girl that did the stabbing regarding it being “complicated.”Do they charge her?

She was attempting to protect another persons life. A much larger person was holding him down and beating on him.

If you're going to bring a gun to a knife fight, don't drop the gun.

The girl can claim defense of another, but as her b/f willingly engaged I think that's going to be a tough call.

The black guy was no longer being threatened by either of the other two when he went for the gun. His going in and getting it out then brandishing it as he moved toward them should be the biggest point for at least the b/f. I say "should be" because it's NYC so there is likely to be a strong push by the DA to charge the guy for at least involuntary manslaughter.

Every participant is a member of a protected demographic in NYC. No one will go to jail and the shooter will be released for self defense.

Now, had the shooter been white....well, we know how it would end.

Hispanic vs Black in NYC... I wasn't even going to attempt to wade into that politics of the victimization shitstorm there.
