I know what Valley Park encompasses. I'm still shocked it hasn't been redeveloped.

It only needs to be redeveloped between Acadian and College.
Nothing wrong with Corporate area or the area behind the Bennington post office.

It's a whole lot of small lot properties.. People have been buying them up with no direction for years when available but they are basically overpriced worthless pieces of property until they all are bought up.. It's an amazing look into how real estate can be sectioned off between high end neighborhoods.. I'd love to know the story of how it can to be in its current form

I think my nephew bought (and then resold) a VP property in a tax sale. Wish they all would try to skip out on their property taxes.

My boss has a house on Richland circle. It's not far from there and pretty nice neighborhood

Valley Park is surrounded by one of the best neighborhoods in BR (Hundred Oaks) and there's alot of old money in the area.
I wouldn't live in Hundred Oaks because it's sketchy as hell bordering Valley Park. Definitely not safe. How can people find this place desirable amazes me.

About the steroid potential...

Beverly Reusch said her son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when he was young and that he took up bodybuilding as a way to keep his weight up.
The other part of the Advocate story I found interesting was when they were going through their "he was a good kid" paragraph. He and his fiance have been engaged for 2.5 years, and they were thinking about getting married in February (assuming Feb 2016)? If this is the type of family that buys their 27 yr old kid a new vehicle, doesn't that also seem like the type of family that plans a wedding (and sets a date) more than 2 months out?
The other possibility is the victim owed the perps some money, and the new jeep tragically made it appear as if he had it even though it was bought by dad.

It's desirable because it is convenient to the whole town. Also has beautiful houses, quiet streets and great amenities.

IIRC Valley Park was the site of a landfill back in the day. That's why the properties were so cheap initially.
Can any old time BR OTers confirm this?

Seems like every night I hear about a violent crime in Hundred Oaks.

The old Baton Rouge landfill was there. It was a Superfund site at one time.

It's partially on an old landfill. What in this world isn't toxic anymore?

This is code for "I can't afford to pay $170 sq/foot for an old house."

I agree. Simply put, definitely not a good area of town.
That's not a bad part of town.
