I'm not arguing the reasonableness of it from a financial standpoint. I'm pointing out that a metal detector beeping as a kid walks through firing a weapon is pointless.
If this kid wants to sneak in a weapon, he'll do it...by something like cracking open the back door to the gym or cafeteria and coming in that way.
Simply put, I'm not a fan of security theater. It provides a false sense of safety that does not do anything to protect those who it's intended to protect. See, the TSA checkpoints.

Id guess this is not the guy. The suspect was wearing a burgundy shirt. This guy looks like hed probably be wearing a hat a camo.
Also...how on earth do the police ID a suspect so fast while it is still an active shooter situation? Im guessing kids or school staff recognized him.

Yeah, in that very specific situation it would be useless. Does that make it useless altogether? I'd say no.
