Shooting 100 block of Bourbon Street - last night

How the frick does this happen in one of the most visible blocks in the city? This is why I don't cross Canal after dark anymore. I long for the days when NOPD ruled the Quarter with an iron fist. At least street crime in Ghana is down.
InB4 shithole, water is wet, etc, etc.

A woman was shot in the elbow Tuesday morning on Bourbon Street, New Orleans police said. Her condition wasn't immediately available.
The shooting happened in the 100 block of Bourbon Street, which is between Canal and Iberville streets. NOPD reported it to media at 7:34 a.m., but it wasn't immediately clear when it happened.
She was taken via EMS to a hospital for treatment. No other details were immediately available, including a possible motive, the woman's age or a description of a shooter.

I hear that this block still has some statues up so this makes sense.

Sad, but the only solution may be police controlled entry into the area.

It’s a Bizzaro world when politicians prefer negative press and social media over High crime rates and social violence as opposed to anything considered to be aggressive policing. Many cities made this conscious decision and as a result , proactive policing is dead. They have been relegated to after the fact response only.

it's official, I'm getting old, this weekend will be the first trip to New Orleans in my life that I'm actually not looking forward too

I doubt you’re going to be targeted unless you’re looking for trouble.

I'm pretty good at keeping a low profile, I've been to a lot of places over the years and have never had any trouble, but the shite in New Orleans can just be so stupid and random, shooting guns in the air, throwing acid on people, just a lot of senseless bullshite

I stated this months back in another thread...every time that I come back to NOLA to visit, one natural progression takes place. The early excitement that I have from being back and seeing family / old friends and places eventually starts giving way to more and more instances of me noticing things and thinking, "yeah, this was why I left." With each passing trip, that timeline declines noticeably.

Don’t forget about the guy that cut up his girlfriend and cooked her body parts in a Gumbo.

Shoulder bump, or too long of a stare?

If you send a patrol to 826 N. Rampart you will find the dismembered corpse of my girlfriend Addie in the oven, on the stove, and in the fridge along with full documentation on the both of us and a full signed confession from myself…

One message on the wall directed them to the stove. There, in a pot on one of the burners, was a human head, burned beyond recognition. In another pot were hands and feet. Inside the oven, in a large roasting pan, were arms and legs, also burnt. Investigators noticed that there appeared to be seasoning on the limbs. And on the counter next to the stove were cut-up potatoes and carrots.
Inside the refrigerator, in a large plastic bag, they found the torso. But as horrifying as these discoveries were, police would soon find even more disturbing evidence in Addie Hall’s journal.

My guess is she admits to using speakerphone in public in her journal.

The worst thing in that block is a Krystal. It's right off the mainest of main streets in NOLA.
