I hope no respectable journalist or news channel goes so low as to make that a point

Is it poor taste if you clink on the Yahoo link to this story and before you can get to the story there's an ad for a COD:WWII, a first person shooter game?

you can't say there have been 22 school shootings as if there were 22 times that someone walked into a school and started shooting up the school. They are not the same.

which is why i'll go with 10... but think about that for a second... 10 times someone with a gun went INTO a school and shot someone, some instances causing fatalities... that's just 2018, and 2018 is not even half way done...

if we don't admit that we are having a problem with controlling gun violence, on the whole, and start to take steps to try to alleviate that, we are failing our own society...

Your link and stats and graphs is such a load of bullshite.

Mass public shootings – defined as four or more people killed in a public place, and not in the course of committing another crime, and not involving struggles over sovereignty.

From the link.

It's not a mass shooting if they rob a bank and then kill 20 people running away?

2 or 3 mass shootings a year in a small country like Norway is not insignificant

That’s the entire point of standardizing across countries
I'm sorry but I'm not going to compare Norway to the US based on a per millions basis. 325 million versus 5 million.

Yeah, i’m sure the fact the kid was MAGA as hell and followed only gun accounts/the Trumps on insta will not be brought up at all by the uber-liberal media.

did you type that with a straight face

I see places like judge's chambers, where you have to be buzzed in, there's usually an officer in front of the door. You go to elitist schools where senators and billionaires send their children, and those schools have armed guards at the doors. You see that in countries all around the world too.

I think better securing the schools would be a smart place to start. Searching bags, having secured doors. I see people having to empty their pockets and their purses when they enter a courthouse. Maybe schools shouldn't be so different.

Effectively, and probably rightfully so, burying the story of the psycho shooting up a Trump hotel this morning too. Political lunacy is rampant on both sides.

It is a factor, but if you look, there is a decrease/leveling out for a few years and then a big uptick in the early 2000s.

I can’t attribute it all to Columbine.

Columbine was in April 1999. It really hasn't slowed down since.

Santana High School in 2001, Red Lake in 2005, VT in 2007, Northern Illinois in 2008, etc.

I am not saying there isn't. Byt websites like MotherGoose and others that report these "22 school shootings" aren't accurate with their journalism.

The country absolutely has a problem with many different causes. Banning guns will not prevent these senseless acts of violence to stop, neither will doing nothing. As someone who has to wait a week every time I buy a gun, I have no issues with more restrictions (like having a permit that must be renewed every few years just like a driver's licence), waiting periods, etc. What I do have a problem with is banning a gun that accounts for less than 3% of all gun crime (I know this shooting hasnt gotten into the AR debate yet but it's coming too).

Lots of ineffective or even bad pieces of legislation had pure intentions.

right, so let's do something about it and change it... hell, Thomas Jefferson had one of the best ideas ever, saying we should re-evaluate the Constitution every 17 years to sorta "update" it...

illegally possessing the firearm.

some are illegal, sure... could have been a legal one at one point, or someone bought it for them, and the perpertrator possess it illegally, that happens... and you can't get EVERY gun off the street, that much we know... but why can't we take the necessary measures to try to PREVENT it from happening in the future?

we need to accept that we need a change, draw a line in the sand, and move forward with increased restrictions to weed out some of these people, and i know it won't catch EVERY one, but it will catch some, to start to decrease these types of events...
