Shite. I drive a Jeep GC and my favorite beers are Southern Star Black Crack and Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout... Also have a husband and kid...

I drive one. To and from work only but I have a long commute. Leg room is great. Gas mileage is the best I can get for a vehicle with that leg room. I don’t need a truck to feel like a man.

44 year old male, wife (no pics), two kids. I drive a 1997 Toyota Land Cruiser. Seats 7. Paid $5k for it when I got it two years ago. Have put about another $5k in it over two years. It's my daily driver. It's paid for. Classic looking off-road vehicle. Runs like a champ. Always get compliments on it. I drive it everywhere. Drinks a lot of gas, but I recycled a vehicle which should decrease my carbon footprint right?

I'm debating within myself to buy an old LC and do an overland conversion. I love the look of that generation LC

I too, am in the exclusive LC 100 club. A 2000 for me with a ton of aftermarket work.

She got the base model I guess
No, she bought a used one that was 6months old and only had 5600 miles on it.

Do it. You won’t regret it. But be prepared to spend 7-10k if you really want to do it right. Don’t go cheap on front and rear bumpers.

It's what us old folks used to call a station wagon.

Jeep Sahara with full offroad package.
And yes, she used the winch a few times already.
Her last 4wheeler.
Oh, picture of daughter.

Shoot me straight though, no way a middle aged male can get away with buying a hybrid crossover type

Which is really just a glorified station wagon itself.
Well, they're not all created equal, for sure. But, for example, some truck based models by Toyota and the classic Jeep Wrangler, are highly capable off-road/overland vehicles.
Others, as you suggest, are truck based station wagons with, perhaps, a more robust constitution. That's certainly accurate.

They can get straight up stupid price wise. Biggest thing is figuring out what might be wrong with them. Rear main seal replacement is about $1300 at Toyota. If this repair hasn't been made, you will just need to factor this and other stuff into what you pay. They leak oil. All of them. You are buying an old LC you will work on them. That being said most of the repairs on mine have just been replacing original parts. The entire rig was all original OEM from front to back. So it's not that it is broken all them time, I'm just replacing 22 year old parts that just wore out in a reasonable time frame. It's still cheaper than a car note.

My next vehicle is going to be the rav4 adventure. all wheel drive with a 3500 lb towing capacity.
You may want to verify that. Specs say 1,500 pounds. Goes up to 1,750 with the hybrid version.

Went look at them two weeks ago. Might be out of my price range but I did like it.

Used to own a Murano and I loved it. Leather interior, Bose sound system, comfortable drive and held up fairly well. I drove it till the wheels literally fell off. Switched to a 4Runner after that.

We don't judge here.
