quote:

New article in journal published by Cambridge Univ Press says that testimony to House Oversight Committee in March 2020 mixed up case fatality rate (CFR) and infection fatality rate (IFR) for influenza, resulting in major error.

author Ronald Brown (of University of Waterloo in Ontario) said that House Committee was told that estimated mortality was 10 times higher than seasonal influenza. This was prime argument for lockdown.

Brown observed that New England Journal article, just prior to House testimony, had (incorrectly) said that CFR for seasonal influenza was 0.1% whereas 0.1% is actually the value for IFR (WHO).

Brown observed that CFR and IFR have different definitions in epidemiology and gives a lengthy exposition.

Brown curiously didn't identify the person who, according to Brown, gave the wrong benchmark information on fatality rates for seasonal influenza to Congress, linking to CSPAN in his footnotes.

the expert who, according to Brown, made the 10x error in testimony to Congress is, by now, well known to all of us. It was, needless to say, Anthony Fauci.

No shite. I had twins this year. One of them passed after a week old and the other made it. They were both born at 23 weeks and 1 day old. We have been super safe with no one being around them except us and grandparents. We have been strict with even grandparents seeing our daughter and we realize it sucks but rather be safe than sorry.

Government, on both sides of the aisle, rarely has our interest at heart. It's prudent to scrutinize everything they do.

The government cares about our vote and that’s it. Sometimes to get our votes they have to agree with some of our thoughts. That’s about it.

The data weren't bogus. Several linked articles have Fauci's actual statements. State legislators just didn't know what they meant.

Every other year is an election year. You vastly overestimate the strategery of most people involved in local and state government.
