Grew up in Sherwood Forest.

Mr. Gattis on Florida @ Sharp.

Dads would take us there after little league baseball games, where they would proceed to drink them out of draft beer.

Brunets on Flannery.

Like many here, bought my weight in Mickey's hand grenades from Jimbo's. Also bought lot of beer in HS at Jerry Lee's and the Shell Station on Sullivan at Wax.

When they began construction of the McD's on Flannery at Sherwood, I thought I had died and gone to heaven.

Stop and Go on Flannery.

Like others, spent a LOT of money at New Generation.

Also, wore the hell out of Pancho's.

The little purple swinging doors at the entrances of K&B. Oh, and K&B ice cream (GOAT) and K&B beer (not GOAT).

Super Fresh on Sherwood at Coursey.

The Cajun Blaze burger at Burger Tyme at same intersection. Also in that restaurant was a TJ Cinnamon's.

Getting my haircut by Oscar at Broadmoor Barber Shop.

I'm sure I'll think of more..great thread.

You meant N. Harrels Ferry right?

Was my first job. Me a nd my best friend both worked there. He got promoted to night time TJ Cinnamon roll maker. Those pecan sticky buns were the best.

Yep -- best buzz for the buck. A 40 ounce Mickeys would give the absolute perfect buzz. Drink two and you'd be praying to the porcelain God.

I meant Flannery at Florida. Thanks for catching that. Too many beers from Jimbo's has ruined older Panny Crickets.

I played brec ball with a lot of guys from around there and then played against them as I got older. Great guys. I'll toss a few names out and I'd be willing to bet a few are in this thread.

Billy Cannon Jr, Wayne Thaxton, Loyd Pence, Lynn Fink, Kevin Darouse, Mark Howie, Jeff McNemar, Bud Hinson, Billy Dewitt, the Alford kid lived across goodwood from sherwood Junior, Fabian Roussel, Chris Purvis, Jay Manda, Robert Lamb. Sims and Robert Rigard. That's just off the top of my head.

I laughed, cried, sweated, fought, drank beer and everything else with many of that list and while we can never go back - we can have great memories and I do of each one of them.

And being I'm old and don't have to wait for the weekend to have a drink I'll hoist a couple of cold Envie's to all of the above tonight and to everyone else in the thread with those same fond memories.

Cheers!

I wonder which location came first. The one on N. Harrels ferry was the big hang out spot for Broadmoor and Tara students.

That came years later but it was called The Zone I believe. Then later became Effects after hours club.

It was just as you said except Effects was spelled FX. Saw Stevie B there in 97. Great concert. Seriously. Kyper opened for him.
