BATON ROUGE - Investigators at the sheriff's office are warning drivers of burglars targeting people pumping gas after a reported burglary.
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office shared a video showing the thieves pulling up alongside a victim's truck at a Marathon gas station. The passenger in the vehicle reached over and opened the truck door, appearing to rummage around inside.
The suspect's car appears to speed off before the victim even realized what happened. No other details on that crime were immediately available.
Officials say the burglars are often referred to as "Sliders," people who pull up and steal from a vehicle or take the car if the keys are in it.

When i get out my truck even to pump gas, my keys come with me.
When im home for the night my truck doors are locked even though i live in a good neighborhood.

After the videos in NOLA cane out I started to be more aware of it also. But my passenger door would’ve been locked regardless as I usually leave it running and get back in while it’s pumping

This has been going on for decades.
Lock your doors when you pump your gas. Not that hard.

Is this another reason to buy gas at Costco?

The orcs down here in central FL have seen the N.O. orc videos and have started doing this around here.

This isn’t a BR thing. Thefts like this happen everywhere and they aren’t new. I hear of things like this in Katy.

Put your keys in your pocket and lock the doors... Simple..
Don't give the piece of shits the opportunity.

Ever think of how altered our everyday lives are just bc of Asians? For example, we have to live way out in the exurbs just to get away from them, or otherwise pay expensive school tuition, bc our kids can’t compete for grades with those smart Asian kids. They loiter in big groups, especially public libraries. Everywhere they are is less safe, mostly bc their women legit cannot drive.
Wait maybe it’s not Asians I’m thinking of. Maybe it’s the dot Indians.

I leave the key in the ignition, but the only unlocked door is the drivers door, which is two steps away when pumping fuel. Plus I don't stare at the pump, that's depressing enough. I look around while pulling into anywhere, look around as I'm getting out, get things pumping and then I look around at the surroundings, see what's going on in all directions, maybe clean the windows. I can assure you that even if all my doors were unlocked, nobody is getting into my vehicle without me noticing.
If someone can get into your vehicle and steal something while you're right their pumping gas, you're essentially a dumbass.
How some people are so unaware of their surroundings is incredible.

Yeah that why I hate those screens that play loud advertisements on the pump

Last week in Slidell, a NOLA trained criminal carjacked a guy at a gas station -before he put gas in the vehicle- and drove back into the city.
Of course the stolen vehicle was low on gas because genius couldn’t wait for the victim to gas up, so he exited in the east to a gas station, where he was arrested.
2 mistakes:
1. Wait for your mark to gas up the ride.
2. Initiate crimes in Orleans Parish so there will be no cops looking for you.

At least with Sam’s and Costco being so busy and making everyone face the same way it cuts down on something like this happening

I'll say this again:
Every time the question of, "Do you turn off your vehicle when you pump gas?" question appears on the OT in always say, "Yes". It has nothing to do with the possibility of blowing the joint up, and everything to do with with not trusting people. Pull up to the pump, turn the switch, pop gas flap, get out, close and lock doors (even hit the alarm), then pump. I keep my head on a swivel and back to the vehicle, but that's just me, and I really don't trust random arse people at gas stations.

Sneaky troll or unaware? Sometimes hard to tell.
