Oh ya, law-abiding looters dare wouldn't go out after a curfew.

Guess it's the risk you take when you open a bar.

So you take on the risk of the sheriff overstepping the Mayor President and getting permission from the governor to shut your business down early?

To your overworking reasoning, I guess that is the risk you take when you sign up to wear the badge.

I know - they shouldn't be allowed to take a break. Let's run their asses into the ground. It's not like they aren't still patrolling areas.

Yep, that is EXACTLY what I said. Your logic isn't consistent, but please continue to try and change what I've said in order to bolster your weak justification.

By your same logic, that is the risk of being a police officer. One that is funded for in a state of emergency. Furthermore, that wasn't really the justification given.

Oh, I think they nipped that pretty quick... And now preventing it from continuing.

Ah, so I actually overestimated the looting issue. That is not rampant looting. Let's break your link down even further:

quote:

Baton Rouge police officers arrested six people in two separate looting incidents on the city's north side in the early morning hours Tuesday amid widespread flooding, according to a police spokesman.

So there were a whopping 12 of the 14 people were arrested in 2 events, and they weren't even arrested by the sheriff's department.

In case you need to read the evidence again

LINK ]From the post you responded to: I believe there was somewhere ~15 in the days before the curfew was implemented. That isn't rampant imo, and you can't assume those same criminals wouldn't be committing theft in other circumstances.

Quit being a bitch about it

How am I being a bitch about it?

quote:

Stay at home after midnight.

I can't comprehend what I've repeatedly posted for you.

don't want to do anything "so badly" after midnight. But I've taken full advantage of the 24 hour Wallgreens or Wal Mart's near my house for odds and ends in the wee hours of the morning (Ran out of OTC meds, batteries for a smoke alarm that went off, etc.)

Easy solution. Make sure you have what you need before midnight and there wont be an issue

What kind of question is this? Why do people think it's their business to ask why people want to be out after midnight? Look a-hole, it's my fricking right to be out after midnight and when you take that right away over a pissing contest you're overstepping your authority.

quote:

As long as I'm not doing anything illegal or impacting you directly it's none of your damn business what I want to do after midnight, so go frick yourself and mind your own business.

Yep, and you think that assholes who loot will care about a curfew?

But hey, it is preventing something that appears, according to the other scholar's link, rare. Let us applaud the sheriff's office for preventing something that wasn't really happening in the first place.

We the people give assholes like Sid too much power and it clearly gets abused in times like these. frick him, I'll vote for whoever runs against him purely for principal in this matter alone. This is an abuse of power. He will never get my vote again.

Yep. I like Sid too, but this isn't right.

The power to keep everyone in the parish confined to their homes should not be granted to one person. The power to impose a curfew on the citizens of this nation should be distributed between several authority figures that were elected by the people (and can be voted out) and should require a unanimous decision or it fails to be implemented. That is the only way a power this great will not be abused by assholes like Sid Gautreux.

The blame lies on both of them

The timing of the curfew impacts a lot of things. Having the risk of getting pulled over on the way home from working certainly impacts decisions

The Bootlicking Bodreauxs and their fat old ladies who are in the house for the night by 7 every night anyways trust the sheriff's judgment. Don't question their freedom-hating

Sure thing, honcho. The thread (eta: and news article) I read said curfew at 10pm for EBRP, so I made sure I was home by 10pm. Isn't that the purpose of the curfew?
