the Hancock Whitney Center, the skyscraper that has housed Shell’s local operations since 1972 and until recently was known as One Shell Square.
Just was there last month.

I think this development plus the top golf will do very well, and is exciting news.
I’m not sold about the soccer field. Jefferson parish is also still talking about developing zephyr field into a multi-purpose soccer field. That would be peak New Orleans stupidity to Balkanize development with two ~70,000,000 million multi-event soccer fields as opposed to a single such facility for the entire metro area that can actually compete for a MLS team and other major events.
But maybe it will work as a soccer/sports/concert field. That area of the city is a complete nightmare to get in and out of for the majority of the city so we’ll see.

Should have put Zephyr Field in that spot when it was built. We may still have a minor league team in the area if they had. But that was peak Jefferson vs NOLA balkanization era, and East Jeff thought that was a big coup for them at the time.

Good point. They really will need to think about improving something with roads in this area.
It doesn't take much for the Tchopotoulas(sp) exit off the interstate to get backed up pretty bad with all the trucks headed to the port area.
And coming from uptown to this "River District" area will need some kind of road expansion project as well.

The city also already has Pan Am and Tad Gormley

Whatever soccer team plays out in that stadium in July-August is going to be undefeated. Poor visiting team.

Dumps.

Seriously, Pan Am isn't even a decent spot to host 3A high school football games any longer.
Tad needs a lot of work.

MLS has teams in Dallas and Houston. New Orleans isn't any worse weather wise.

Traffic in that area would greatly be reduced if all the trucks could get straight to the interstate from the port and not clog up Tchop. Would be a very effective use of money, which is why it will never ever happen.

Well if the tree huggers wouldnt havent fought the development at The Fly there would already be a $5mm dollar stadium behind Audubon Zoo
I agree, both Pan Am and Tad are both dumps compared what they could be, especially with the lack of green space and fields in the area

Knowing how we usually do things, they will build out all this great stuff by 2026 and then start on a road project that will finish in 2028 like why happened with the airport. LOL

Any additional lanes would go straight through this "River District" and destroy it.
Stop Tchoup from going into the CBD.
Single lane turning left with continuous flow to the on ramp.
Stop access to Tchoup via Calliope headed towards the river. Force traffic to take a right down to Mardi Gras World.

Idk what they should do with Zephyr field but if the new USL team gets put over there, they’ll fail. I think it’s pretty much build this new stadium or bust.
