Recruiter just called and said to complete stage 2 of the process. About to take my assessment test. Any tips or things I should brush up on before testing?

Do you get your truck nuts now or does it come with the official offer?

Buy an F-250. You’re not official until you get one

Freshen up that New Iberia haircut before you go in.

What type of degree do you have?

Are you mechanically inclined?
If so, it’ll be easy.

Find out where the supervisor's son or nephew is. Poison said son or nephew. Get job instead.

Shells test is one of the easier ones actually. But you can’t brush up one mechanical aptitude or basic problem solving. By now, you got it or you don’t. I’m sure you’ll be fine though, good luck.
Dow’s test a few years ago was interesting, not hard but interesting. I remember a question that was 6 people sitting at a rectangle table and it would give you clues to figure out where they all were sitting. It wasn’t hard, but it cracked me up knowing that 90% of the guys in my Ptec class had no idea how to utilize context clues.
Btw, never accept a job at Dow in the LHC units.

Test is easy. Hope you have op experience. I took it and passed and never heard back. Buddy of mine is an engineer at Norco. He asked someone about it and they're like oh we don't even interview someone without 5 years or PTEC. Take that for what it's worth.

Is this the online one? at Which location?
Good luck.

PTEC
Plant's put a lot of stock into PTEC, for whatever reason. Give me an operator with experience every day over a PTEC. With that said, I had to get my PTEC to get hired on. It doesn't do shite, as far as prepping you for being a good operator, but sometimes you have to play the game and get the degree.
HR people jack off behind the keyboard when they see a resume that's submitted online with someone having the PTEC degree

This. My plant said the same but 3 years in regards to experience. If no Ptec you have to look at smaller, crappier plants for experience.

I agree and disagree with you. I’ll definitely take experience over a degree in pretty much every field. I do think Ptecs do somewhat prepare you, but the program could use a lot of “fat cutting” because they make you learn so much you will never need to know. One probably uses 10-15% of what they teach you in Ptec.

Get clean. Shell does hair follicle testing.
Good luck.

I think ptec prepares you to handle the training that the job will require, but it’s also not a sure thing. It’s much tougher without any related experience (contract construction/maintenance work, chemical loading, etc). But yes, usually any operator with 5 years experience will handle things much smoother than a student walking out of rpcc/Brcc/iti etc.
it’s kind of a chicken or the egg type situation.
