I just got the CVS brand razor with 5 blades

I got a winn dixie brand one similar priced, and after one or two shaves it gave me the worst ballsack razorburn ever. Switched back to gillette.

All I use a razor for is the scrote and neck anyway. They last a while

I'm not going to lie, I would love to give this a try, I'm just scared to death. I burn and ingrown the frick out of some hairs with a Mach3 like a mother fricker.

Pro tip I learned a while back...

It turns out shaving is NOT what dulls your disposable blades.....its oxidation along the edge because of WATER.

If you shake and pat dry the blades before putting the razor away, it will last practically forever. I have been using the same mach3 for at least 30 shaves, and it is like new.

No bullshite.

Eta: you're welcome , I just saved you thousands of dollars over your lifetime

Yup. I blow mine off with a hairdryer for like 10 seconds after I shave and it keep them like new.

I've been shaving with a Double Edge Safety Razor for a couple of months. I use an Edwin Jagger DE 89, which is a great starter for picking up DE shaving - my favorite blades are Wilkinson Sword blue or Feather. I switched from Electric, which was a switch from a multi-blade cartridge - problem with those is pulling, and skidding across the skin, which contributes to razor burn. Prep is important - I use an pre-shave oil, get in the shower, leave my face damp coming out, then get to it. I go with a shave cream instead of soap, work a lather with a badger brush, brush it on and go with it. Finish with a good quality after shave cream. I have learned not to shave DE if I'm in a hurry. Once one figures out how to do it, its a great, close shave with minimal irritation, perfect for a guy like me with a dense beard pattern. And I'll admit, I like having a razor like my grand dad used.

What in the holy hell did I just watch?

That dude used a primer, cutting balm, a buffer, and some cutting paste just to get a closer shave?

Yep he is a beast. He also shaved his right cheek about 1500 times in 5 minutes. Feel for the buttress son.
