You are right, tax exempt churches really are a drain on the economy. How you can have "pastors" with net worths in the multi-millions is beyond me. Really doing "God's Work".

Casinos don't get tax incentives? During Katrina people like John Travolta weren't bringing truck loads of food ans water to the government, they were bringing it to the churches because they were the ones helping people. This isn't a religious argument for me, but if you think in any way that the churches aren't putting that money back out into the community, then you're a fool.

The first thing I noticed in Las Vegas was the amount of homeless people.

Would this help Tunica not suck?

There are at least 2-3 empty casinos there.

This isn't a religious thing for me either. They should be taxed like any other for-profit business.

Trust me when I say this. You don't want my church involved in government any more than it already is.

Yeah, the notion that all our state is missing is a bit more gambling and we will be doing great is laughable.

For the record, I don't give two shits if the legislature legalizes sports betting or not. It's just funny seeing people try to argue that anything of tangible benefit to our state might possibly hinge upon us doing so.

Well we fixed everything wrong with MS with sports betting, so it could happen.

La. needs to follow suit, but this is no big plum for the state.

The article says Miss. will only collect a few million in taxes as a result.

In La. we waste that much a week

I don't want any church involved in the government. I just want them taxed for what they are.

I know of four different groups of people who used to get rooms in New Orleans and gamble at Harrahs for their fantasy football draft or opening weekends of football season. They all went to MS this year.

Add us. That's five.

I just want someone to list a good reason why I shouldn’t be able to go to Harrahs and bet $50 on a sports game if I wanted to.

What is making it legal going to hurt?

Exactly, I myself don’t know any bookies or internet sites to bet on, but I would drop some money if I were there.

It hurts the pockets of the crooked lawmakers because they don’t get a cut
