Christ, Dr Pimple Popper on a show..... The cringe was pretty bad...

Yeah I’m bored and need something to bitch about....

They actually dug up the Jackass crew to do a show as well...

I haven’t watched in years. It became more about celebrities and reality TV than actual shark research.

They jumped the shark years ago when they started doing mockumentaries

Considering they have a new movie coming out and they all work for the same company, this cross promotion isn't surprising.

Did she try to pop a pimple on the shark’s snout?

I used to love Shark Week up to about 10 years ago, I'm pretty sure the last season I watched was when they tried to make it seem the Megaladon or whatever that big arse shark is was still roaming the oceans.

That happened a few years ago with the Michael Phelps racing a shark.

I saw one episode the other day with Gordon Ramsay documenting finning. It seemed somewhat relevant to have him on since it was all about shark fin soup.

Oh, I see what you mean.

NatGeo’s SharkFest is more like what Shark Week used to be.

Are we not supposed to be outraged over this soup anymore? A few years ago, they were all about “raising awareness” over this apparently heinous act of making shark fin soup

No, you are supposed to be against it.

His reasons:

Finning sharks alive and disposing of the rest. It is animal abuse and apparently the number of fins has to match the number of bodies brought in but that isn't happening.

Over-fishing.

Shark fin is bland so what's the point?

They always have one hour on weeknights for celebrity gimmicky kind of stuff. There’s still 3 hours of good shark stuff per night.

That iteration was easily the fricking worst. The next year the entire week was nothing but great white sharks jumping. That was it. Nothing else. It was terrible.

The year that followed they had 1 maybe 2 white shark shows the whole week and it was incredible. They talked about mako’s and tiger’s and hammer heads and bull sharks. It was awesome.

But sadly it looks like they are back to great whites jumping and reality tv bullshite.

On a side note, now that discovery has essentially turned into reality tv along with history channel, does anyone have discovery plus? How is it?
