Squall lines usually don’t concern me. (Outside of the 2015 Baton Rouge derecho) Isolated supercells are what rock your world in this part of the country.

The line is forecast to be a bunch of individual cells instead of a solid line in Baton Rouge. We might still get rocked by some high winds and small tornadoes but nothing compared to what's going to happen in Mississippi and Alabama.

So in Bham I'm fine to go out for the next hour or so? Need to go to the CVS and pick up some waters

To my untrained eye, it certainly looks like the line is more fragmented than it was not long ago.

The morning event of April 27 was a QLCS with most of the damage caused by straight line winds. A few spin up tornadoes happened as well. But alot of that tree damage was from 60-70+ mph winds in the early morning hours.

Yes, it is not supposed to get really cooking in MS and AL until this afternoon

Is NOLA not going to get any rain soon??
Posted on 3/17/21 at 11:12 am to rds dc
PDS Watch incoming. It appears that the cap is breaking and storms are starting become surface based across portions of S. Miss.

It is weird having a high-end threat day with how it feels outside. It was chilly last night, and it is currently 58° here with cloud cover. That's usually a good sign. Just weird.

Forecast looks like tonight at the earliest

And that dewpoint line shows why it feels the way it does farther North. Local weather app says 58° dewpoint currently.

This is where the high risk should have been to begin with. Maybe a little farther north.

So I have a friend who just moved to Jackson within the last month, she’s from the Midwest. She just told me she is driving down to NOLA today for work. I am trying to explain just how insane and dangerous that would be. Am I being dramatic?

Cell near Hattiesburg starting to look nasty
Posted on 3/17/21 at 11:17 am to tigerbandpiccolo
Yeah kind of. When is she leaving? If it’s now she’ll be fine.
