I'm not a weather guru poster and I know someone else may start a "tracking" thread. I was just curious if anyone is hearing possible predictions for us LA folks tonight.

I just heard a pretty big storm with tornadic weather is passing through eastern TX and is headed straight for us.

Yeah here in the Houston area there were a few tornado warnings this morning. Nice long line of thunderstorms. It's pretty easy to read a radar so just keep an eye on it. Moved through really fast though.

why does it seem these 3 way intersections always happen in louisiana?

warm front meets cold front meets disturbance moving in from west.?

Eastward moving dry line meets gulf air meets cold air meets warm air

the word JUST does not belong in that sentence.

he is asking about a time frame. you say, JUST put all your attention on reading the patterns and colors as they change and you will notice a pattern that could be a tornado this evening.
sure.

My bad.

I was saying keep an eye on it to follow the storms and the timing not to try and read it for predicting a tornado.

It looks limited for most of SE Louisiana.

Best moisture will be off the coast, and this morning's NWS discussion is full of uncertainty with how much instability builds in but pretty sure there will be a cap in place as you go north. Not impossible to see something, but the best conditions are over in Houston toward Lake Charles.

Trade winds blow west to east at our latitudes.

Low pressure systems have a counter clockwise spin to them. Warm air comes in from the south and eastish, cold from the north and west.

I think the worst of it will pass north of us. We'll probably still get scattered thunderstorms

I don't recall so much severe weather when I was younger. It seems worse than it was in the past.

Yep. The winters are much warmer and the weather is much worse than I ever remember......

It's because you're more aware as you've gotten older

Future forecast shows it kind of breaking up and not looking as impressive as it did when it passed thru the Houston area. Rain, some lightening and wind. All good.

That's our problem. Louisiana has never handled traffic very well.

but the timing seems to be perfect a lot of times. either front comes trough a day earlier or later and this doesn't happen. The system coming in from the west arrives a day earlier or later and it doesn't happen. All 3 arriving in louisiana at the same time seems to be a recipe for trouble.
