Belle Isle is an old salt dome pretty much due south of calumet. The main facility is on the dome island. The field surrounds the island in the marsh. They use small boats to work the field in the marsh area.

The only difference between level 1 and 2 is patient volume

They have the same staff/resources otherwise

Sounds like this is burn though which is a a different animal. Some hospitals have a burn unit but dont get other traumas

You are half correct. Patient volume does come into play but Level I provides complete care, and Level II provides definitive care. Level II offers about half of Level I in terms of services at-the-ready.

You are absolutely correct about burn units. And God bless anyone who works in a burn unit. I know I couldn’t.

Head of their geo department was putting an engineering ruler on her computer monitor to try to prove to me how far a lateral was from a lease line. Scale factor was why she never matched with us

I think they got rid of her.

Not a joke

That is hilarious and sad all at the same time. I would say that is a quota hire gone bad but they are a private company.

Were other people in the room when you called her on it?

Nope. One of the few times I have ever been speechless. I excused myself to the restroom and went straight to the engineers office. He didn't believe me at first. He was able to take over at that point and I never saw her again. Nice person. Just in over her head.

Deceptive title, I got worried why I had not heard about this.

This is not an "oil rig in the GOM". This is an inland gas well that was being P&A (plugged and abandoned). Not that it matters to the injured parties, but it sure made me pucker when I first read about it.

Did my clinicals at the burn clinic at our lady of Lourdes in laffy, so there are definitely quite a few of those around the state.

Those shelf platforms are complete shite. Many are very tiny and completely coroded that if you shake a handrail it falls into the gulf. Many a foot has went right through the grating, and worse.

Being in WI I obviously know nothing about rig operations in the Gulf.

Quick Oil & Gas 101 (not a thesis )

A rig drills for oil and gas. There are many types of rigs: work over, jack ups, floaters (Deepwater Horizon), Deepwater drill ships, etc. Sometimes there are rigs on a production platform (Mars, Olympus, etc) The rig company is contracted by the oil company to drill a well.

A platform is where the oil and gas wells flow to be processed. It always confuses me when watching a fishing show and the host says they are at a rig when they are really just at a platform. Most platforms have operators on-site to help with the production of oil and gas. There are many types of platforms: fixed leg to the sea floor (shelf platforms), Tension Leg Platforms (Mars, Olympus, etc) and other deepwater floating facilities (Appomattox, etc)

Just trying to help some of you baws with the basic terminology. Not trying to get in a pissing match with any of you offshore baws. I realize there are other categories of rigs and production platforms.
