i didn't say anything like that

however, i do think they should act like they're doing a job and not socializing with friends

lol. if theyre working at trader joes or something that isnt fine dining, its just a job. not a career.

being cool with people is how you get regulars and more money and better sections and shifts at restaurants

Yeah, jobs should be boring and stoic. The "help" should know better than to talk to people who think themselves superior! The nerve!

People tip their friends more than they do strangers

It bothers me when they say " your welcome" after I say "Thank You". They should be thanking me too.

You're. Your phone automatically corrects it if you time the "re" after "you". How hard is this? I know this is the absolute prime example of people complaining about insignificant crap in a thread of people complaining bout insignificant crap, but let's all pretend we passed 3rd grade and use proper English

Start shopping exclusively at Muslim-owned Stop-n-Robs, if you want that cold, "you're lower than a dog" vibe.

OP just screams "I'm poor and unsuccessful so I need to make cashiers and Uber drivers feel like they are below me"

Next time you look down on them remember, some of them are young and improving their lives while you are just miserable.

I have a felling most store managers would rather have employees that are doing what you describe than have you as a customer. It's really unfortunate that they have to deal with people like you. Can you do us all a favor and just shop online?

Dont agree with the premise of the op, but trader joes is shitty. Seriously guys, shut up and pack my bags. The shops here all employee tatted up hippies, so i guess that's why i feel the way i do

I will take the cashier yesterday that had a 3 minute conversation with me about how I spent my spring break vs the normal conversation of

"Whatchu need?"
"$30 on pump four."
*Deep frustrated inhale*
"We ain't taking no cash today."
*I swipe my card*
"You gonna hit no cash back or naw?"

Meanwhile they have some disgusting song blaring on their phone about fricking bad bitches and flipping chickens.

there is very little professionalism. they often crack jokes, use very informal language, etc. who do they think they are?

Socializing with you is part of their job. So they are doing their job when they speak to you.

I know socializing with people while you are supposed to be manning the fry station is frowned upon by the management team but you don't have to take your anger out on the nice people at Trader Joe's.
